Hi Movie Buffs ~ Am wondering if someone can help me with a dilemma regarding an old movie that i saw around 1970/72 late one night on tv.

It was called 'Five Million Years to Earth' - in doing some research i have discovered that it was originally done somewhere in the 50's as 'Quartermass and the Pit' - i am not certain which i saw...any ideas/suggestions as to which is the best of the two - the original or remake? Any info that you can give me would be helpful...it is all fairly confusing...

I generally hang out on the 'Computer' Board but i will check back in here every so often...thanks a bunch...i want to reconnect with the thrill of what i considered the best sci-fi i have ever seen...any and all clarification appreciated!! - thanks

Posted by   ( ) on Jan-25-10 at 15:58:18 PST   Listings
Veteran actor Pernell Roberts of 'Bonanza' died at his Malibu home Sunday. His wife Eleanor Criswell told the Los Angeles Times that Roberts lost his battle with cancer. He was 81.

Roberts shot to fame in the role of Adam Cartwright on the long-running western, though he left the show to pursue a film career after six seasons - an arguably premature move that Entertainment Weekly recently counted among the 50 worst TV blunders of all time. After 15 years out of the limelight, Roberts took on the starring role of 'Trapper John, MD,' for all seven seasons of its run.

The Big Bopper (born Jiles Perry Richardson) had just established himself as a rock hitmaker with the rollicking "Chantilly Lace." Born in the heart of Texas, Richardson grew up in Beaumont and changed his first name to Jape. He broke into show biz as a DJ over KTRM radio, where he coined the nickname the Big Bopper. He began recording for Mercury in 1957, his animated baritone scaling pop play lists the next year with "Chantilly Lace" -- easily his top seller -- and the equally raucous novelty "Big Bopper's Wedding." Richardson wrote "White Lightning," a huge country hit for George Jones, and Johnny Preston's number-one smash "Running Bear."

Legend has it that Busey put together a band and actually toured up and down the Left Coast, playing Buddy Holly songs, before the production began. He convinced the director to let him perform the songs live in the movie, rather than rely on overdubs.

"Avatar" has crossed the one-billion mark at the box office with no sign of slowing down. It might be a decade between movies, but director James Cameron has his finger on the pulse of what audiences want. Hard to believe Cameron started out back in 1981 with "Piranha Part Two: The Spawning."

A BELATED MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL THE CINEMANIACS IN HERE!!!...I'm back from a wonderful vacation in Minnesota visiting my family...it was a very snowy, which was a great treat for my boys who haven't experienced it for more than a few hours...we got to be with my dad, mom & sisters (& their families)...the 6 days went by sooo quickly...this morning we left chilly 17-degree weather to return to "balmy" 53-degree weather...

Has anyone seen "It's Complicated" yet?...the previews look real good...Meryl, Alec & Steve look seem like a funny trio
