CB sorry about the jury duty. Did they settle just before you had to go in? That happen a lot. Your rain and mud slides are scary too. Your horses sound pretty, and congrats on Rosy's first ride. She is a sweety.

I wounder how much snow Shar got? I always loved the photos that she would show after a good snow storm. We have had snow every day this month and got lots this past weekend. I was shoveling the steps tonight and was not sure where to put it. We gave up and have a friend with a blade on his truck do our snow, as well as Dad's. Even though Mitch did an additional hour of snowblowing tonight.

Mary, I am glad you posted too. I was concerned with how the rains/mud may have affected you too.

Car I would love to share some of the snow with you. There is a lot of it and people (me included) are starting to think of the F-word (flood). I am glad that you got to watch the game, I just was not able to. I would have like to have cheered for the Colts to help Lott. Maybe I should have...I might have made the difference. So have the valentines been driving you nuts? Maybe not so much right now. Are you expected to refill the racks on Valentine's Day?

I suppose the Valentine Lady is doing another talk. She likes to have Lott help her. Hey Lott! let us know.

The good news is that the neighbor's bird feeder has drawn in two peleated woodpeckers and they are huge. The bad news is that it has also drawn in a huge hawk. I guess this explaines why I do not hear the squirrel in the attick any more. The bunny rabbits have not been seen since the weekend storm either. I am hoping to see some tracks tomorrow. Mitch noticed a new rabbit hole next to the house where there is a little snow cave. I would guess that might be a warmer place to hunker down in.

My boss is chewing at me for something that is unreasonable and petty. He did not order my materials in time for a presentation, so I did it without and gave out an info sheet with contact information. Now he is saying that I broke rules by creating unapproved advertising, and refuses to pay me for the work. He wants to have a chat as soon as possible...Of course he is only 2,000 miles away and his schedule is impossible to find a open spot to call.

I still have not had any diet coke, or anything diet. But I have had about 4 regular sodas. Not too bad, I think I gave it up on Jan 8, so it has been a month. I have discovered that my knees are not so achie on the stairs in the morning. I have lost 5 pounds with out much effort and I think my profile is not as great (large) as before. It will be fun to see what comes later in the month when I do a weigh and measure.

I got a good scare last week. My eyes were really hurting and at my workout place, my pulse was too high. I was concerned about high blood pressure and vision damage. I had an ASAP visit to the eye doc and was ok and my regular doc said that even though my blood pressure is a bit high, it is not enought for meds. Now all I have to do is get rid of my headache. It was a headache that kept me from doing well on the bar exam last summer. My head had never hurt so bad as it did then, and do not want another one of those again.

I am trying to study for the bar, but there is too much interference with other things. The exam is in two weeks. I hope there is more stored in my memory banks than I think there is.

Photos when the mud comes off, LOL So sad, even under there shelters is mud!
O boy my Super Bowl experience was less than fun. One of the guests brought two seven year old girls. I just wanted to run from there, even told them to tone it down while the mom stood by saying nothing. RESPECT, where has it gone.

Good morning! Thanks, CB. I knew you went to get horses, but didn't realize you would be keeping them. Can you show pictures of them?

We stayed home yesterday & had the superbowl on. Greg watched it but I was in the kitchen most of the time fixing dinner. Got to see most of the half-time show & a few commercials. I didn't think The Who put on that good of a show. Seems like they could have gotten someone else.

Lott, sorry the Colts didn't win. Did you watch the game?

This will be a busy week for me, work-wise. Have to work my Target every day this week, including Sat & Sun. Plus my other 2 stores, once each. Have a lot to do today, extra displayers going up, so I'd better get with it. Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning, rain off and on today. Power off a while this morning.
I picked up Sandy on our Colorado trip in September, she is Appaloosa. She is going to the trainer as soon as the rains stop. Got Sweet Sue last week for a client, she is Appaloosa also and will be going to the shows this summer with them. Her training is going on now with me for a while. Both are four years old.

Good morning!

DOC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so good to see you!! I'll take some of your snow. We have been snow-deprived here this year. The other night after hearing about all the snow in the east, it just seemed like there should be snow on the ground here. I can't even imagine having as much as you have. When it does snow here, we only maybe get half of what you got. LOL, on the twins. Greg's mom saved everything & when we cleaned her house out last summer, there was tons of stuff. I even found a sweatshirt she had made with the boys' & Greg's handprints on it. It had the date on it, too. 1989. I guess it was supposed to be a gift to me, but I never got it. LOL, I am wearing it now. And the funny thing is, none of them can even remember doing it. Not even Greg, or his mom. Brett would have been 14 & Brian 11.

CB, glad you are OK. And your shrimp & hot wings sound good, as does the potato feed. I mentioned that to Greg & he didn't think much of that idea, but I think it would be a lot of fun. And you have other horses there now? Sweet Sue & Sandy? Haven't heard you mention them before. I must have missed something way back there. And Rosy looks great! You did a good job with her.

Hi, Mary! Good to see you.

Better get going. The game will probably be on, but I do need to work in the garage for a while. Have a great day, all!

Annie & Car, you have my sympathies and total understanding.

Annie, I need to get my sugar numbers down, and it is just a daily struggle. I never drank diet pop, and didn't drink much regular pop, either. My problem is the starches and carbs. In what alternate reality must you live in that you don't have bread and potatoes with supper every night? No toast or hash browns for breakfast? No french fries or bun with lunch? I need to add more frutis and vegetables to my diet, really? What, some asparagus dribbled over my corn flakes, some peaches pureed and bleached to stand in for mashed potatoes? WHO EATS LIKE THIS??????

I have read the diet books, and I think, are there real people who do this? Who don't eat twinkies or Godivas? Who never have Koolaid or sweet tea? Who think desert is a four letter word and actually prefer a nice crispy salad? And if so, why couldn't I have been born one of them?

I had lost 10 pounds before winter set in, but not being able to get outside as much has really hurt. I am sure, without weighing myself, that I have gained it all back... And whole wheat bread tastes like wallpaper; I don't care what anybody says. Sigh... I never drank alchohol, never used illegal drugs, never smoked. I have one indulgence, and now I can't even enjoy THAT guilt-free.

And Car, LOL my dear, I think we married twins seperated at birth. Gene's family saves NOTHING. My family still has anything that ever came through our front door. Cultures collided when Gene and I married.

It is a never-ending battle here over why I keep the stuff I do. Of course, when I need something I have it, and when he needs it, we have to go to the store and buy it for the 15th time. Of course, when I need it I have it, but it usually takes 24 - 48 hours to find it... I have worn him down a bit over the years, but we already went through the first battle of the inheritence wars when my aunt died and my uncle had me come and clean out their house. I still have boxes of that stuff in the garage.

Sometimes you wonder why you married the person you did. Shouldn't there have been a large warning sign on Gene that said, "This man has no concept of 'sentimental value'"? Wouldn't you think that was an important character flaw I should have known about???? Along with 'amusement park rides make me sick'. Just sayin'...

CB, there must be something wrong with your camera. There is no snow in that picture.... Is there someplace in the world that DOESN'T have snow? Well, besides Vancouver?

Well, it's cold down here in the basement. Need to check the woodstove. I was sure I had a fire going. I can't get to the birdfeeders. I filled them yesterday, but I have never seen as many birds dining there as I have this morning. I am sure they will empty both out before the day is over. And we have been feeding the deer down at the bottom of the driveway, but there is no way to get there unless the snowplow man comes through. We have a lot of wild life depending on us, so hopefully things will improve shortly.

Shaaaaar--on! Shaaaaar-on! Is that you under that snow drift??? I know, it is much worse there than here, but it wasn't MY fault! Lott sent it on through, and what could I do?

I mean, we can't even get the atv out of the garage to plow our driveway out as it is. Had I kept more of this stuff here, we wouldn't have been able to get the doors open. The dogs can't even move through the stuff. I opened the back door so they could go out, and they just looked at me with the same expression I usually get from Here Kitty when there is a lot less snow involved.

We called a man in the newspaper who does snowplowing, and hope he can get here today. If not, I have bread and milk, so we should be good til Sunday. Although Gene is already having some sort of allergic reaction to not being able to get in his SUV and go SOMEPLACE...

No one on our road has moved yet, including the township roadcrew. Many counties around us have declared states of emergency, making it illegal to go out on the roads. I don't know if ours has, but perhaps our roadcrew thinks the warnings include them.

So, how much snow did we get? They predicted 8", but it was up to my knees this morning when I went out to help Gene push the atv back in the garage, so I'm saying closer to 16" - 18". Cin should have gotten more, since she is south of me, and the farther south and east you went, the worse it was. Shar should be getting hammered, according to what our local news is saying. This is the 4th largest winter storm in our history.

But, here's the kicker. It has stopped for now, and we shouldn't see any more for Sunday or Monday, but the next storm moves in on Tuesday, and they expect snow Tuesday night through Thursday. Whoo-hoo! Just can't get enough of this global warming stuff!

Good morning!

CB, that's OK, I didn't take it the wrong way. Are you going to a Superbowl party? LOL, pigging out at a party sounds like fun. We aren't doing anything special, but the game will be on.

Wow, the east coast sure is getting their share (and ours) of snow. Doc & Cin must be snowed in, too. Saw on the news how bad it was. It will be in the mid-fifties here today with some sun.

Went to the granddaughters basketball games last night. They are on different teams. Both their teams lost, but it was fun to watch them.

After valentines cards come down, Easter goes up. LOL, got an e-mail last night that said some cards headed for here were destroyed in a train derailment. One of my stores is affected. But they say that the replacement cards they are sending will be here before the 15th.

I'm going to try to make some more headway in the garage today. Haven't been out there in a while. Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning! Raining here this morning, but supposed to stop later on. Yesterday was really nice. Sun was out for a while & it got to 57. We did some errands & ate at our favorite drive-in in Fife. They close for the winter & just re-opened on Feb. 1. It's a little ways to drive, but we also went to the Costco down there. It's a business center, so they have different things than the ones up here. Lots of stuff for restaurants, so it is fun to look. Ladles, pots & pans, dishes & such that restaurants use. Cheap, too. In December I was down there & got a huge stainless steel ladle for $1.69. Used it in my big pot of chili.

Shar is sure getting the snow. Up to 2'. I don't think we have even seen one flake here.

It's been busy here at work & will be busier. Starting next Monday, I have to work every day, even the 13th & 14th. YUK!!! Not looking forward to it, nor the 15th, which is the changeover day, PLUS being a holiday. Oh well, just more money for me, LOL.

Better get going. Have to work & six boxes of valentines came in on Wed & I didn't get through all of them.

CB, you check in more often, too!!!

Good morning! Kind of drizzly here today, but not too bad. We set a record for the warmest January on record. Guess we won't be getting any snow this winter. Valentine's day is coming up fast & it is going to get busier, especially next week. I have to work my Target starting next Monday, every day, even V day. 7 days straight. I am going to try to get everything up I can & not have to stay too long. Of course I always try to get it all up, but sometimes they send WAY too much. With the economy tho, I've noticed they aren't sending quite as much as in the past. I've got another 6 cartons coming in on Thurs. Dang, & I thought I had all they were going to send.

Lott, hope things are going better for you now.

Anne, LOL, hunt for the item. And the remote in the bag. What a hoot. Of course, I know you don't think so, especially when you are hunting.

Don't have to work today, but have laundry to do. Went with a friend on Sat, so didn't get it done & Sunday we had the birthday party here, and yesterday I worked & when I got home I forgot about it. LOL, so today is the day. We might go out looking for some molding for the kitchen floor. That's about the only thing that hasn't gotten done in the kitchen yet.

Have a good day, everyone!

Tonight the moon was harvest moon orange, and huge. Must be the cold air that makes it so beautiful.

This weekend I played "hunt for the item." It was lots of fun to hunt for three lost items. They have been found but nothing else was accomplished for the weekend, especially studying which I desperately need to do. To make it more fun, the TV remote got lost. I found it in a shopping bag. I saw Mitch looking at the purchases in the bag, and for some reason, he decided that it would be a good place to put the remote. He could not remember where he put it. A few hours later I remembered seeing him look in the bag and Wow! there it was.

One more item needs to be found, but I think it is in a different room.

I saw the moon tonight, it was beautiful. It was a light peach in color. Last month it was the full harvest moon orange, so I was watching to see what color it would be now. I thought it was cool that it still a bit of orange to it. M Maybe the orange comes when the moon rises in the dark? I hope to remember to watch for it again next month.

Lott, I hope things are better for you now.

Mary and Cb I think it must be the weather for the headaches. I have one too. I even went to the doc about it and some pain in my eye. After a couple of hours, I checked out just fine.

Car, I am so glad that you are enjoying the bear den. It is a lot of fun.

Here is a new link: Puppy cam. It is about a Shiba Inu dog named Kika and her babies. Beware you can hit cute overload. ( Sorry Doc, I had to use the c-word) http://www.ustream.tv/sfshiba right now there is a lot of "popping" noise; so either there is some popcorn being made or there is hail on the roof... either way Kika is really alert and watching.

Good morning! A rainy day here. But a light rain & that is good. Suppose to taper off today & dry for a few days. There is about 8" of new snow in the mountains, so the skiers are happy. They are complaining about the Olympics in Vancouver that there isn't any snow for the competitions. And they say it is too warm to make artificial snow. I think it's about 2 weeks till opening day. They are praying for snow.

Lott, aawww, aren't they cute! Congrats! And congrats on the Colts' win. That's exciting.

Anne, during the day, there is plenty of room in the sleepers. There are two seats that face each other. One time there was a single gal in the one across from us & she had the upper bunk down all the time & had all her luggage with her up there. The room attendants come & make the bed up for you (lol, actually just fold them down) at night & then make them into the chairs in the morning. Nice service. You can also do it yourself if you want. And Happy Belated Birthday to Mitch! So you ventured out on icy roads for free birthday meals? You are brave!

CB, glad everything is all right there. The weather people say Calif has been pounded by heavy rains. Glad it's not us.

we went to a dinner party Sat. It started at 2 & we didn't get home til after 11. It was a music jam, too. Met some new people & one couple live not too far from us. And we had to drive about 45 minutes to get to the party, LOL. I took my knitting along. On Christmas Brian said Chrissy (his fiance) would probably like a scarf. I asked her & she said yes, then I wondered when in the heck I would have time to knit it. I was able to just about finish it at the party. I just need to see how long she wants it & then bind it off. I think it's the right length now, but I want to be sure. Glad that is done.

Well, better get going. Off to work today. have a great day, everyone!

Today is Mitch's Birthday. A couple of restaurants have birthday specials so it will be a day of feasting for us.

Today the Viking play for the Division Championship. There was a story on the news where a guy decided that he would not shave until the Vikings won the Superbowl. He has not shaved for 35 years. Everyone please cheer for the Vikings, for is poor wife's sake. Mitch has a Bret Farve Vikings jersey, and wore it for the game last week. It seemed to help the team play well, so he needs to wear it again.

Our storm is interesting. It has been mostly rain and freezing rain, with a couple of inches of snow too. The streets are slushy, so tomorrows wind will not be causing a visiablity problem. Of course the ice will be fun as the temp drops. Right now, as I type this it is 34 degrees. The weather people advised that we do our shoveling ASAP in the morning, because as it freezes it will be imposible to move. I had to shovel the bunny's opening, and clear out the hole. He was traped inside.

We had a new washer and dryer delivered today. It was a great day to do this since it was so warm. The guys had to take the back door off of it's hinges, and it was still difficult for them to go around the bend in the stairs. We definately got our money's worth having them do the delivery and instal. Plus they put the old set in the garage so we can give to brother in law, and they took the extra dead washer out for recycling. Mitch had to clean up the basement and it looks great!

I still have not had any Diet Coke. I have had 3 regular sugar sodas, during this time period, but that was because I really did not have much of a choice. I had lost four pounds, but it all came back, but I have started eating more raw veggies and fruit. Processed foods do not taste as good any more. However the fine chocolates are still quite acceptable.

Earlier in the week the Minnesota Twins Caravan came to town. Two pitchers, an announcer, TC bear (the mascot) and baseball legend Tony Oliva were in the group. We won tickets for it (they were only $5/each, but it was nice to go for free). Included in the price was a "ballpark lunch" hotdog, chips, and a coke. The hot dogs were really good. Afterwards the people signed autographes photo cards. Mitch got his picture taken with Tony. Mitch has been a fan of Tony since he went to a game in 1964. Tony was a kid then, and the game was against the Yankees. So Mitch also got to see Babe Ruth play and hit a home run.
I few years ago, I took Doc with me to see the Twins Caravan and I got pictures of her with Tony and Twins Coach Ron Guardenhire (I don't know if I spelled that correctly). That was the same year I took her to see and be photographed in the Stanly Cup.

Cute you tube of cats and a spider: "death of a spider."http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF9fcIqX9XQ&NR=1

Since it is January and there is nothing better to do, there is a cat show in Minneapolis. I have been joking to Mitch that we do need to go to this. Of course with the bad roads/weather, it is not going to happen. http://eventful.com/stpaul/events/34th-annual-saintly-city-cat-club-annual-/E0-001-025740909-5

I have saved the best for last. There is a "bear cam" in a black bears den in Minnesota. Friday she gave birth to at least one cub. The cam will be on for the rest of the winter so we can watch the bears sleep, and maybe get a glimpse of the baby(ies) now and then. There is a You tube link were the baby was born and you can see his tiny arm

It is muddy out but this break in the rain is much looked for. I am high with the house but the barn and horses are on the low side so they get the run off.
Alls well, thanks for asking. O it did take about 20 mins to thaw the ice off the truck this morning LOL Next comes the dreaded FOG!

33 degrees and freezing rain/snow. Whee we will be ice skating in the morning. Cars just love to slide through intersections, and body shops really love cars sliding through the intersection. We have a friend who is driving a semi tonight. He called from Minneapols (6 hours away) and will be driving into this mess. Hope his trip is ok.
Lots of activities have been canceled and no travel is advised, but the interstates have not been closed.

Car, that is great that at least on the train you have enough leg room. Is there less leg room in the sleeper car rooms?

CB are you ok? not consumed by the mud?

Good morning! Another nice day here, they say. Thankfully, no rain. Calif is getting it all.

Anne, I wish we could get a little snow. Just doesn't seem like winter without any. But at this point, there doesn't seem to be any in our future. Even the mountains are suffering from lack of snow. Skiers aren't happy and we depend on the snowpack for our water during the summer. Can you post some of your pictures on here? Would love to see them. The sleeper cars are OK, but VERY small. Especially for 2 people. One person would be just fine as you could bring your luggage to your room & put it on the upper bunk. No room otherwise. They are expensive, too, but if you get one, all your meals are included, so that is great. The food is pretty good, too. And you don't get a seat in the main cars. I like to people watch so that isn't too much fun. But you can go to the lounge car & hang out, or if the train isn't crowded & you find a seat in the car, it's OK to sit in it, I think. The first time we went back to Indiana we just got coach seats & slept in them. That' the way most people go. It's not too bad as the seats recline & a foot rest comes up, and you can get comfy. Lots of leg room between the seats, too. Being tall, we think that is neat. You wouldn't have to worry, though, LOL.

Well, I'd better get. Have to work again today & didn't sleep well last night for some reason, so I am tired already. Have a great day, everyone!

Glad you posted CB, I was wondering how you were doing. The news showed that it is pretty bad in the LA area.

We will be getting some of it this weekend. It will start with freezing rain, turn to snow and then some wind. So we will be having a blizzard. Yippee!...well not so much. If we are lucky it will be over on Sunday, then we have the time to clean up and clear out. But tonight I heard that it may continue through Monday.

Of course this means that I will not be able to go to the HUGE cat show in Minneapolis. I really had not planned on going because I didn't know about it until today. I did want to go to MPLS this weekend, but since there is a storm I will not.

Last Tuesday we had hoarfrost and fog, so it was a winter wonderland. I took a bunch of pictures for my photography class and enjoyed looking at our beautiful world.

Lott, are you going to get the storm too?

Car, I finally got to see what the sleeping cars are like on the Amtrack site; they look like a lot of fun. Do you also get a seat in the main car or do you have to stay in your "room" the whole trip?

Good morning! It stayed dry yesterday till the evening. Greg worked in the yard & filled the clean green container. I worked in the garage part of the day. They say it got 60 yesterday & I think set a record for that day.

Anne, there are mudslides around Mukilteo that have blocked the rail lines. Amtrak runs on those east-west. They think they will have them operable by tomorrow. Good thing you haven't come now!

Going out to dinner with our friends tonight. Dessert at their place. Yay! I don't have to make dessert & clean house. We are going to an Italian restaurant.

Have to work today. Got 12 big boxes of valentine's in on Monday & got a few put out, but have to work on those today. Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning! Yesterday was a bad day, so didn't make it in here. Today is better. The weather has improved a little too. Not much rain yesterday & not supposed to be a lot today. CB & Calif are getting the weather that we usually would be getting. We are just getting the tail end of it. Yesterday got to 59 degrees. Almost a heatwave, LOL.

Lott, the roadtrip sounds like fun to me. But I suppose riding in a car most of the day would wear a person out. Haven't done that for a long time. Glad Dale was able to find the graves.

Well, better get with it, lots to do. Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning! Raining here yet again. Last time I checked no water in the basement, but there will be soon, I know.

CB, I think the storm you are getting will hit here, too. The pineapple express from Hawaii. We are supposed to be having an El Nino year, which they say is supposed to be warmer & dryer. We've got the warmer, but certainly not the dryer. Hope you get some relief for your poor hand. That's been going on too long.

Lott, don't have any plans for a trip this year so far. My cousin from Indy is planning on coming some time this year. But that doesn't mean we won't go somewhere. Greg's credit card purchases has earned us points on Amtrak, and he said we have enough points for both of us to go to the east coast. Not sure when that will happen tho.

After my mom passed away, I never really cleaned out her house since Brian was living there. We gave the house to Brett & they are trying to move in with all their stuff. So they have brought a ton of stuff to our garage. Now I need to go through it. Greg is not happy & things are not going well here. He thinks everything I have or my mom had is crap. If he doesn't pick it out or pay for it, it's just crap in his opinion. Same with his mom's stuff last summer when we were dealing with cleaning her house out.

Well, I'd better get going. Working & then doing errands. Then drudging in the garage. Greg spends all his time on the computer or playing his instruments, and expects me to toil away all day. And his idea of helping me would be to haul all the "crap" to the Goodwill.

Have a good day, everyone!

CB, I never did buy anything to replace my stolen camera, so I would give yours a nice home. I had a great December, but never felt like I should spend the extra bucks on a new camera. I still plan on getting a digital SLR sometime.

Car, are you planning a vacation trip for this year?

Good morning! Yes, we are still pumping the basement. Just turned off the pump a little bit ago. There wasn't a whole lot down there, but enough that I wanted to get it out, before it took over. Supposed to be the big pineapple express coming in this evening. That's a system from the jetstream from Hawaii. Should be bring tropical warmth, not rain, LOL.

Anne, they have been having a lot of warnings on TV about giving to charities & especially the Haiti scam that is going on now. They say if you want to give, seek out the charity on your own, not from solicitations you get by phone or e-mail. And I agree about China products. You never know. And I wonder if the Chinese people eat those products or if they are just exported.

Lott, glad you are getting a chance to get caught up. I know that has to feel good.

Well, better get going. My boss's assistant wants to meet with me today. Have a great day, everyone!

Morning! Wow, Anne, lots of interesting reading today.

Still organizing here. I went thru the spare cut glass yesterday. I buy it in large sheets and cut it down to fit the frames, but I have lots leftover & it gets stacked together and too often gets scratched then. I used to just buy big sheets & would have lots left over. I now buy lots of different sizes and just small pieces leftover now, mostly, which has helped. Not sure what I will tackle today.

Better get moving here. I do have a few frames to do before I start more organizing.

Up here in the "farmbelt I hear about political debates in Washington about labeling points of origin on food. Essentially food has to show where it came from. Of course the importers do not want this. Truthfully I had not given it much thought, but now since I cannot determine where my candy was made I want these labels. I wonder what other food origin mysteries are in my kitchen and storeroom?

Thoughts on telemarketers:
I have been getting telemarketing calls from "Charities." They do not have to honor the do not call list. Today's call was from "Children's Wishes" (not Children's wish network). They wanted to send me their literature ...like they did last year (only they did not). Do not accept this type of offer, because if you agree to them sending the literature, sometimes there is a contract in there that you did not agree to, but may be liable for. If you get strange calls on your caller ID you can google the number. It has been eyeopening to read the horror stories, about sham charities, on blogs associated with that number.

Telemarketers #2:
The scam artists are out in full force calling for donations to help earthquake victims. Not only is your donation gone, your identity may go with it. If you want to help you can contribute to your local group, local Red Cross, or Bill Clinton's foundation (very reputable, I learned a lot about it when I was in Norway.

Hi everyone. It was a great day here, in the upper 20's. It is so weird to have warm mild temps in January, then have them plummet to the extreme -30 and -40. We will keep our fingers crossed. Tomorrow I will have to chip the packed snow off our steps and clean up the porch. There is food that needs to be kept frozen out there.

CB, funny about the Arc. Yesterday I had to watch a film: "When Worlds Collide." There a spaceship was built as an arc to go to the other planet that would survive the collision. I liked the film. It was I think from the 1940's, only 80 mn long and direct to the point. I appreciated not having all of the "fill" that gets put in today's films to "stretch them out."

Car are you still pumping the basement? I would guess that you do not keep much stuff on the floor, but have a lot of shelving?

Lott, Ginger sounds cute. Do you have a camera now so you can post a picture? It might be really nice for you to have a shop cat now in the slow time. She could commute back and forth with you; then she would not lose her place in the "pecking order."

No Diet Coke or any Pop for 8 days. I have lost a modest 1 1/2 lb, even though I have been consuming many fine chocolates each day. They were on clearance after Christmas. It is still hard to choose water over pop at meals. The pay off is that I really do not have eating issues between the meals, and at meal time I am hungry. I read once that some people whose metabolism is messed up (like me) don't recognize hunger, since they are eating between meals. Essentially the diet pop fools the body into releasing insulin to pick up the sweet (it thinks sugar) substance that it detects. The insulin can't pick up the artificial sweetener, so there is a signal to the brain that the body has to eat something, so the insulin can have something to pick up. A person just does not feel good with that insulin traveling around with nothing to bind to, so you eat, salty items seem to be best for taking care of the problem, but then you get thirsty and reach for another diet pop and the cycle continues. So you eat but not because you feel hunger. ... hope this makes sense. Paris Hilton said something very wise on TV. She was asked why she didn't drink diet pop. It was because "it tastes icky." I agree, but it is sure a hard habit to break. Mitch says he is cutting down to 1 1/2 a day at work. Every little bit helps. I would say that I have probably saved at least $10 this week by not drinking any pop.

I seem to be doing good without the caffeine too. Someone once told me that if you can get off of it, you will naturally become more alert with just healthy eating and lots of water. I am so surprised how much water a day I drink. I have no problem at all getting 8 8oz glasses consumed.

Photography class today. It is so difficult. We use Mac's and I am a PC user, plus maneuvering around photoshop. I grabbed a notebook that I used last semester and was glad that I chose that one because it had some of the instructions on how to get around on the Mac in it. I really can't remember all the steps on my own. The class/lab is supposed to be 2 hours but it always takes me more time...today 3 hours...but I did get to help the gal beside me, and that felt good, considering how much help I got from others, it was nice to pass it on.

China thoughts part 2:
Today google reports that it is tired of China's cyber attacks, and is threatening to pull out of the country.
http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/u-s-wants-answers-from-china-on-cyber-attack-on-google/19315841/

This evening I opened a new tube of toothpaste and both of us got sick from it. Where is toothpaste made I wondered? Yep, a lot is made in China and they were caught putting a substance used in antifreeze in it called DEG, is used as a lower-cost sweetener and thickening agent. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18985512/

Then I looked at some candy that I was eating. All of the labels of one brand does not have where it was made, only where it was distributed from. Two other brands have "proudly made in the USA" or "made in US" on them. I don't think I will buy any more of the first brand. Since it does not say made in USA I will have to assume it is not. So where does it come from? China? I don't want any food from there, and I do not want vanilla from Mexico. Their vanilla is often (not always) mixed with a "taste alike" substance that contains a carcinogen that is not acceptable in the US. So we cannot buy their vanilla here, but there is nothing about candy or other finished goods with vanilla.

I am going to be more careful with my labels and give things that are not made in USA a second or third thought before I buy them. I makes sense for my health and my countries financial health.

Morning! Sorry Anne, I have not been busy with customers, but I have been busy trying to get some rearranging and organizing done here at the shop. Plus I have put together a facebook page for the shop. No, Chessie is no longer the shop cat. I just couldn't keep him here with his attacking customers for no reason. He pretty much doesn't get along with any of the other cats, but they know to just keep their distance. He likes people, but has a terrible evil side to him. Sometimes I think I should bring another cat in here, and sometimes I think it is best not to have one here. Ginger, the little female who decided to move in last summer, would be a good one for here, I think, but I also think she is preggers right now.

Car, keep an eye on those ads and let me know when they are almost giving away trips. If I didn't have the bar exam, I could fly round trip to DC for less than $400.

Beautiful picture CB. I also am fascinated with that web site of earthquakes. I had no idea that CA had so many each day.

Lott!!! Where are you? Hope you didn't get buried in snow or shop dust. I don't remember, is Chessie still a shop cat or is she living at home with you?

Had another funeral/prayer service today. The funeral home had brochures for turning your loved ones into gemstones. At first my eye was attracted to this brochure with beautiful stones/jewelery. It took a while for it to sink in that the created stones were not the ordinary run of the mill created stones that are so common.

Today's thought:
Have you heard about that jewelery for children made in China? The metal inside of it is highly toxic Cadmium. Lets review: They send us poisoned pet food, poisoned baby formula, children's toys painted with lead paint, and now poisoned jewelery. And I will not even go into how the high performance car parts fail after normal use. Are they at war with us and we are not aware of it? We certainly have suffered a number of causalities.

Good morning! Rain, rain, go away! We've had a lot of rain the last 2 days & of course our basement has water in it. I think at least one pump was going all night. Greg was looking after it.

CB, pretty picture. It's just gray here. Although I did go out yesterday afternoon about 4. It was kind of dusk & not raining & Mt. Rainier was out in all it's glory. Sure was pretty, even on the gray day.

Anne, I saw an ad for Amtrak in today's paper. The temps are about 50 during the day, but we pay for that with the rain.

I haven't been able to sleep well the last 2 nights & have slept in til 7:30. That puts me behind. So I have to get going. Have some errands I want to do today.

Shar, it's good to see you. Miss you!

Hi Edith, Glad to see your post. That was a great way to keep Deanna's memory alive by giving her friend the gift. I am sure she appreciated it. I would love to read the book and see your cover art, but I would not be able to do so until March. Anyone else want the book sooner?

JC how is your hand doing? Isn't it about time to get out of your cast? Were you affected by the big earthquake today? I have not heard anything more about it, other than what I read on the internet. I saw that the sea lions left San Francisco pier. I wonder if/when they will come back. I assume they left because they knew that a quake was coming.

CB, I am getting confused about your horses. Was Sandy the horse that arrived after Jake left? When did Dude arrive? Or did he belong to a friend?

Car, I am really excited about the chance to see you. I ham hoping for in the spring...after school. Keep your fingers crossed. How warm is it there right now? We got up to about 16 today and should be around freezing later in the week. This is bad because I use the porch as a freezer, and stuff needs to be moved.

Two more days of no Diet Coke. Lunchtime is the hardest. I think that I should have one them because I have been so good all week. I have finished 5 days of no Diet Coke. I almost cried yesterday when Mitch took my frosty bottle that was in the fridge. I had been drinking 2-3 cans a day, so it is not like my habit was real bad, a friend quit who had been drinking 18 cans/day. I am sleeping better and the scale seems to be down 2 lbs. I am hoping that if the DC is gone, so will my desire for other bad foods that go with it, such as chips. I do seem to be craving a lot of water.

Mitch watched the bunnies go together into one hole. He thinks they are trying to share body heat. So there is now a hole on each side of the garden shed. A guess the "garden view" apartment under the shed is actually a duplex. Do you think we will be changing it from a singles complex to "family friendly?"

Mouse on the porch ate some of the treats my mother in law sent. Mitch was really upset, but actually mouse ate the stuff that neither of us eat, and it eventually goes bad. I will have to get a mouse trap. I don't want more mice.
Of course mouse might be a squirrel. Does anyone know if squirrel p**p looks like mouse P**P?

I am feeling more sorry for myself. There was an exhibit in Minneapolis (6 hour drive-one way) of articles from the Louvre. I was planning on going next weekend. Today was the last day and I missed it. Mitch was trying to make me feel better saying that I had seen the real Louvre, but actually that is so overwhelming that a smaller traveling exhibit is easier to enjoy...and remember.

Mitch froze his glasses to his eyebrow yesterday when he was blowing snow, and it is hurting today. I think I may have some frostbite on one of my fingertips...It hurts too.

So I better get back to studying.

Anne, that would be nice if you could visit. My cousin from Indy is planning on coming sometime, too. She's not sure when. We go to a lot of bluegrass festivals in the summer. I need to send her a list of the dates when we go, so she can plan when to come. Your bunny story is cute. You have the neatest things happening at your place.

Yesterday was nice weather. A little cold, but fairly sunny. Now the rains are supposed to come again. They say no downpour, but still, if it rains for a few days, the basement will get water. Not looking forward to that.

Well, better get going. Slept in again this morning & need to get ready for work. Have a good day, all!

Morning! bbbrrrrrrr! Someone turn up the heat a little! It has been below freezing for a long time and now this weekend it is going lower. 13 and windy this morning. We only got about 4" of snow, but it was enough to mess the roads up. And yes, Anne, this was your snow moving thru here. Hopefully it will warm up next week and people will feel like bringing me more business next week. I hate my slow times here.

Ok, better go put some salt out front. Stay warm!

I have gone two days without diet coke. It is not a resolution or anything, but it is a challenge to see how long I can go. Last night I slept better than I had for a long time, but that may be due to flipping the mattress.

One of the cats that died last year used to sleep in my lap when I watched TV, and nothing could wake him except the sound of the remote control turning off the TV. Today Joe, was doing busy cat things on the chair that he has claimed. I turned off the TV and he suddenly stopped all activity and stared at me. I think he was wondering if it was time to go upstairs or if I was going to turn the TV back on again. He is a funny cat.

Now I have a cat fight, those get a bit more involved than bunny fights, so I may have to referee.

HI Karen, nice to see you. Stop by again.

Car, I would be glad to send you some snow. Maybe there was some in your Christmas card. my friend wants me to visit him in Seattle, so maybe after the bar exam, or when school is over in May.

Mitch's uncle was 69. Funny thing at the funeral. Neither of my in-laws sons could make the funeral, but the mother of their grandson and I came. I thought to myself that it was kinda funny that they started out with sons and ended up with daughters. I was a little late (bad roads) so I didn't sit in front with the family, but I was right in front for the luncheon later...Nothing better than homemade funeral hotdish made with fresh tomatoes. There had to be at least 12 different and wonderful hotdishes but the traditional one is the best.

Maybe CB got "moonstruck" from that Blue Moon. Hope she is OK.

Lott, how is your snow fall? I think you got ours. This second storm went south and I am glad. The city has not finished clearing out after the Christmas storm.

Today I had fighting bunnies in the back yard. They sit and stare at each other for a long time, then there is a quick strike and a couple of jumps, then another stare down. I watched until they went out of view.

One bunny lives under my garden shed. Last night I was going to push the snow away from the opening, but I saw that she had already taken care of that. Since we have to take care of our snow and my dad's snow, it is nice to know that bunny is taking care of her own snow.

Good morning! Not too bad a day here. The sun came up & the sky was pink. Supposed to rain tomorrow. Wish we were to get some snow. Lott, send some this way.

JC, where are you? Are you buried in snow?

Meeting A friend for lunch today. Haven't seen her in over a year. Talked to her on the phone the other day & seems she has no patience for anything. Not sure how today's lunch will go. I hate to bring anything up for fear of her rantings.<)P>Lott, glad you have a chance to get some organizing & stuff done. Sometimes that can be stressful if there isn't time to do that stuff & it starts piling up. I know I feel that way when I can't seem to find time.

Well, better get going. Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning! Snowing here, less than an inch so far, but they are saying 4-6", but I don't think it will be much over 4". Business has been dead so far this year, which is expected. I have been cleaning, organizing, counting (inventory), figuring (prices), some minor rearranging.

Have a great day!

Good morning!

Anne, my back is much better. Thanks! I have been lifting some heavy things, but not over-doing it. I think that is the key. Sorry to hear about Mitch's uncle. How awful. How old was he? And I wish you could send some snow this way. We haven't had any yet. Might not have any either. We don't get snow too often and last year (2008) was such a neat Christmas with snow.

Have to work today & then go clean some more at the house. The fun never ends. Brought stuff home yesterday & it's still in the truck. Need to bring it in. Some pictures there of my grandfather as a young man. I'd never seen them before. Some dated in the 1800's. Greg made 2 trips to the goodwill, too.

Have a good day, everyone!

Hi to all,
Sorry Car to hear that your aunt died. I wish that you lived closer so that you could have gone to the funeral. I see you are having a cold, is your back better?

Lott, I am so glad to see you posting again. Glad you are getting a chance to catch your breath.

CB, your blue moon campout sounds fun. Up here the blue boon was actually a harvest moon. It was large and orange. I think December is the last harvest moon, but I will have to remember to watch again in Jan.

Mary and Car, hope Christmas put away is going well. I have not decorated for a few years (since I returned to school). It seems that getting the Christmas cards out is all I can get done. I wish I could visit your houses and see your decorations. Did any of you take pictures?

It has been cold: minus 30 or less. Today it was warmer it got up to 7. But we have another storm coming tomorrow; we should get 3” and temps will be -10 or less. Yea! . Our Christmas snow gave us over 25.1” and the city is still fighting to clear/widen the streets. Mitch’s uncle died Dec 26, his wife’s birthday. They had been storm stuck at their daughters and finally got to go home. Trudging through the deep snow was too much for him and he collapsed in front of (and blocked) the door. His wife could not move him and had to go around the house to get in the back door. By the time help arrived it was too late. He was put on life support until tissue harvesting was done, then cremated. It was a strange funeral to not have a body, nor an urn. I decided that I did not like where there is no body, because for me the reality of the death does not really sink in until I see the deceased. My mother in law dropped the bomb as we were leaving our Christmas celebration that she and my husband’s father wanted to be cremated. There was no opportunity to talk about it, and I have to wonder if father in law really wishes this. Mother in law is a “tad” bossy.

Because of the storm we celebrated Christmas with in-laws on New Year’s Day. It was really nice and not stressful, because on Christmas day mother in law cooks a lot of stuff and has people I do not know over as well as us, her other son and his girlfriend and/or children and their mothers. We dined on left-over and visited. Of course Mother in law did most of the talking, but overall it was much better than past years.

Mitch wanted a new belt for Christmas, so I got him a really nice $40 one for him on sale at Macy’s. He wore it three times, and it has broken. I get to go and complain tomorrow. I have never seen a belt break like this before.

I started studying for the Bar exam today. The exam is Feb 23,24, and 25. It was hard to start since I didn’t know where, so I grabbed a topic and went from there. I got a chance to clean up my study room a bit so it is more comfortable. I hope to do a little more cleaning before school starts, as I have to take a couple of classes too. Today’s accomplishment is flipping my mattress. I am really excited about the mattress not hurting because an unworn area is now exposed. It is now bed time, so I am going to try it out. Good night.

Good morning! Got most of my Christmas stuff put away. Just a little left. LOL, the more you put out, the more you have to put away. And I put a LOT out. It's been raining quite a bit here the last few days & our basement has some water in it. So that will hamper doing much down there for a while as when I put stuff away, I need to put stuff on the floor to rearrange.

I feel a lot better than I did, but am still taking cold pills (just 2 a day).

Brett is trying to move into my mom's house & there is so much stuff of hers there yet. I never did clean it out after she passed away. So I went up there yesterday to weed thru some stuff & we are both going again today. Brett had brought a lot of it into our garage for me to sort through, but the garage is full. He has moved most of the stuff to one spot, so that helps.

Brian & Chrissy are going to buy a house. We went with them to look at it on New Year's day & looked at a couple of others, too. But Chrissy likes the one we looked at first. Her uncle is an agent & he is helping them. He used to be in construction, so knows a lot about how things should be. Sunday Greg & he went to do an inspection & Brian also got someone to look at the roof. I guess it needs a new roof, but everthing else seems to be all right. Looks like they will move forward on it. There were two other bids on it, too.

I saw Dude, too. Just did. Greg turned the parade on & they were on shortly after that. Almost missed him. Then we left to go look at houses & didn't get to see the rest of the parade.

Well, better get going. Supposed to be at my mom's at 10. Have a great day, everyone!

Dude looked great!

I've been watching the parade on-line. If you missed Dude, I think the parade will be posted on line to view anytime. If I can find the link I will post it later.

Natural balance pet food had a float with "Tillman the snowboarding dog" on it. There were a group of dogs that are to snowboard the entire parade. Wow!

Happy New Year to all.

We did not do anything last night. The city has a big party with several entertainment choices. They changed the format, usually I would go for the comedians or special/unusual music but this year it was regular bands and about half of it was child activities...great if you have kids, not so much if you do not. Another 25% was a karaoke contest...great if you like to do that. We don't do karaoke, so that part was ruled out too.

There was not supposed to be fireworks last night, because there was not money to do them, but I heard them for about 5 mn. I am glad that there was some of those.

Mitch says lunch is ready, so I better go.

Lott, yes, it does seem to be a small world. You mentioning Seymour all those years ago is what got me here in the first place. I think I met my uncle Bill's brother once. My uncle Bill was such a neat man. Always friendly & willing to help anyone. They never had kids. Wish they had, he would have made a neat dad.

I feel a little better today, I think. Have to take some more pills in a bit & then get ready for work.

Lott, yes, it is Woodard. Hope all went well with the service. Haven't heard anything. My cousin, Shirley, who lives there is to get her house for taking care of her all these years. That seems fair to all the rest of us.

I have a cold and am feeling pretty miserable. My cards still hadn't come in at Target yet, so I guess they should arrive today. First thing I am going to do is buy some cold pills & down some. LOL. My boss said none of the Targets go their cards. So the racks are sitting empty except for Papyrus who put up her Valentines & when I left yesterday Recycled Cards still had their Christmas cards up. It should be a fun day.

Better get going. Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning!

Thanks Lott, the funeral was last Wednesday, I guess. I hope my cousin will send a copy of the obit, but I'm not sure. I haven't talked to her directly, but my other cousins have called me with the news. And we all (the 4 of us out west) went in on some flowers.

Greg gave me a new computer for Christmas & it sure is fast. I had the real old one, the first one we got & even though we have Comcast, it was slower than molasses. Real fast now! WHOOPPEEE!!!

I worked a long day yesterday. 9 hours straight. Didn't get my Valentines cards in at Target, so I put away an order & did what else needed to be done, then went to one of my other stores. Put up Valentines there & put away a big order. They are having inventory on Monday, so need to get out all I can. Still have a couple of things to put out when I go in on Thurs.

Better get going. The store opens in 1/2 hour & I'm nowhere near ready to go. Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning! Good to see you all posting. Good to see Mike, too.

I'm still exhausted. Was hoping to get in here on Christmas & wish you all a Merry one, but just had too much to do. Got my shopping done, but didn't do as much as I sometimes do. That party last week took a lot of my time. We had a great Christmas.

CB, yes, I can see where you would have had a nice, relaxing Christmas. Sounds good to me.

Mary, thanks for the picture and I think we did need more in here so I'm glad it posted twice. I was wanting to do some decorating in here, too, but just didn't have the time.

Anne, so glad your dad has you to look after him. I'm sure he appreciates it.

My aunt in Seymour passed away this past week. She was the last of my mom's sisters. There were 5 of them. She didn't have any children. My cousin in Seymour looked after her.

I stil can't seem to get caught up on my sleep. Keep waking up early.

So glad I got an extra 2 days off. Normally, I would be working the day after Christmas, but since it was on Friday, didn't have to. They've changed that the last few years. Used to be I had to work no matter what the day after was. Be it Sat or Sun, I had to be there. I'm glad they are giving us a break.

Well, better get with it. Have a great day, everyone!

Merry Christmas to all.

We got a great snowstorm, and there will be over 24" before it is over, we are at over 23" right now. North Dakota is officially closed: both North/South and East/West interstates are closed. We didn't have anywhere that we had to go to and no one was trapped out in the storm, so we were able to sit back and say "Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow."

Today we started to dig out....or should I say Mitch did the work. He blew snow for 90 mn. The snow behind my car was 3.5' high and there was the ridge from the street plow behind it. Mitch cleared an area so he could drive forward, then chip away at the driveway. Whew! and the snow keeps falling.

I spent Christmas eve with my dad, cleaning up his mess. Another relative wanted to visit him, and I didn't want him to see the pig-sty. I made a small dent in the mess. I guess dad likes it messy, he has always refused to clean up after himself. Then he complained that he had too much snow. I told him someone would be over to take care of it for him. When he found out there would be a charge, he was unhappy. But we just do not have the energy/health to do two places. With how tired Mitch is from today, I was wishing the guy who is doing Dad's place was doing ours too. Whew.

Book, good to see you & the same wishes go back to you!

JC, I will take your snow, too. LOL, granddaugther said yesterday, "why didn't it snow this year?". I think snow makes it a little less hectic as some people are forced to stay home & make do, and get a few things done that they save til last.

"I LOVE CHRISTMAS" The last three years have been pretty bad, but I never give up hope or faith that everything happens for a reason, and it will all work out in the end the way it is suppose to!!! I am single, have a terrific Great Dane named Darby who is five years old. 2007, lost my Mom and I miss her more today than ever. 2008, lost my job after 20 years. 2009, no health insurance and can't buy my medicine. I'm still lucky!! I have two wonderful sisters, and a great brother. My house is paid for, and I don't owe anyone any money. Even though I will be spending Christmas alone, I am very grateful for everthing I do have. Just when you think you have it bad, look around!! It won't take you long to find someone out there that has it a lot worse. To everyone here, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May Santa Claus give you everything on your list!!! Peachesandpearls and Darby

Yep JC, I couldn't believe it. 10 years! Where does the time go? I could sit here and think about it, but LOL I don't really have time. Ironic isn't that??? :) Oh and I need nor want anymore snow. In fact, you are welcome to ALL of this!

Book, what a wonderful great treat it's been seeing you in here. I have missed you and all the others too! I do wish we all had more time, but I know how it is. Seems like the easier the gadgets make our lives, the less time we have to enjoy them.

There are no eBay coupons right now. Trust me, I looked.

Car, you have all the snow you want...LOL come and get it!

CB, that's one pretty kitty you have there! I too am glad she stayed with you!

Ok, I gotta move. I have Savannah barricaded downstairs while I try and wrap presents since I didn't get to before now since schools have been closed.

I'll be back...

What an exciting time this is. The Solstice is past. It is almost Christmas morning. The promise of the New Year is coming fast. Time for reflection, fond memories, resolutions. Raising a cup of cheer to the Holiday Board, members past and present . . .

May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire.

Good morning!

Shar, shovel some of that snow this way. It's suppose to get real cold here again, but they aren't saying much about snow.

The kids here were out last Friday for the winter break. Target was a zoo yesterday with everyone trying to get there last minute shopping done. I need to work my two little stores today & then go back to Target & work there, then go out shopping. Gotta get those grands shopped for. Going to the mall. Not looking forward to that. Have to get some stocking stuffers for Greg, too.

We are taking the grands downtown tomorrow, after I work for a little while. Hope the weather is good. I'm sure I will be tired tomorrow night! I love that pic of JD! Wow, she sure knows how to pose. And look at those clean feet. No outside kitty there, lol. Thanks for sharing.

Well, I'd better get going. Wanting to start out early. Have a great day, everyone!

We're still digging out! We got about 20 inches. That's too much! Canceled Savannah's party and schools are closed. LOL I needed these last two days to be kid free. I needed to get presents wrapped and all sorts of other things done...AND I needed the ZEN time before Christmas vacation started. :) I'm gonna be nutty as a fruit cake before she heads back next year!!!

Good morning!

Shar, heard about your snow. Wish we had some of it here. I was thinking that last year we DID have snow for Christmas. I think it makes Christmas that more special. They just said on the weather this morning that we might have some on Christmas night. I really doubt it tho. It's supposed to turn cold again.

Our party went well on Sat. I had to work for about an hour that morning. I had only gotten about 2 hours of sleep, too. Woke up at 12:30, laid there for an hour & got up at 1:30. Guess I was worrying about all I had to do. Greg got up about an hour after I did. He couldn't sleep either.Trying to make up for it, but this morning I was awake at 3 & got up shortly thereafter. Greg got up before me. Maybe after Christmas I can catch up & not have too much to worry about.

I still need to shop for the grands. Not sure what to get either. Brett said they don't need clothes.

Got my cousin's box all ready to mail this morning. That will be a relief. Wonder how long the line is going to be. Have to work & there's a lot to do. Christmas alone will take me a long while. I have to work every day this week, so guess I will have to try to shop after.

Better get, I am rambling & I should be rambling on getting ready to head out. Have a great day, everyone!

Shar, no he was not. It will be interesting how he does when we do it again this week. I have to add, just for safety sake, all the horses will be Aced. LOL Happy Horses.

WOW CB! She did a great job with him. He was reallllly not happy at first was he?

Years ago, my senior year in fact, I was to ride at the head of the homecoming parade, but my horse was too scared. I took her over to the field early to see how she was going to do, but I knew it was going to be too hard on her, so I didn't get to ride. I rode on a float instead and threw candy at the other team. LOL It ended up being more fun doing that, but I still wish I'd been able to ride.

Hey, I thought I would mention this....

Ten years ago today, a bunch of you sat at your computers throwing rice and wondering... She's preggers, but will she marrying him after-all?

That really was 10 years! I had to check the certificate to be sure. :)

Good morning!

Nice Pic, CB. Do some of the horses get spooked if they are following a float? I've never thought of that before. The crowd would probably make them a little nervous too.

Lott, good to see you. Glad you are busy, more moola for you! But you are missed in here.

Shar, cookies, YUM!!! I need to make brownies & lemon pie bars for our open house party on Sat. Might do those tonight. Might make one pot of chili tonight, too. Going to have to make a ton of it. Not sure how many people are coming.

Barb, I think I remember you mentioning the 3 year old, but didn't know about the youngest. Congrats! You have caught up with me now. We also have Ryan, Brian's fiance's son, so we have to count him, too. That makes 4.

Well, better get going. Have to work 2 stores today & then do grocery shopping. Have a great day, everyone!

Hi everyone! CB, I LOVE the Rose Parade. I tape it and fast forward thru everything but the floats and the horses, so I will watch for him this year.

I did not get to see the shower. It's been cloudy and rainy here every night for about 2 weeks. I had the night all planned, but when I checked the last time it was too cloudy to even bother.

Busy here too. It's always something. And I've got to get busy now. I'll see if I can peek in tomorrow for a few minutes. It's cookie day.

HI BARB!!!

Good morning!

Barb!!! A big HI! to you! I've been thinking about you & also wanting to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! on Saturday. Hope you have a great Christmas. I bet Zac is really getting big. How old is he now? Maybe Santa will bring you a new computer for Christmas!

Got up early today. Had my alarm set for 5, but woke up at 4, so just got up. Greg got up at 2. Poor guy. I think he's worrying about getting the floor done by Sat. He's almost done. The molding around the edges won't be done, but that's OK.

Have my Christmas party for work today & then are going to dinner with our friends & coming back here for dessert. Need to get this place cleaned up, too. Hopefully, I will get back from the party in time to do more. It's a mess right now. Going to go into work for about an hour before, too.

Gotta scoot. Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning!

Anne, glad you did well on your test & that your teachers think you are good. Aw, sorry your trip here fell through. When were you going to come?

CB, wow, that IS scary. Glad you knew what it was & solved the problem. Poor JD, but poorer you if you hadn't of caught it. When our boys were little, the knobs on our electric range were right in the front, where little hands could reach up & turn them. I used to leave the knobs off. Sorry about your hand & thumb. Hope you can get it taken care of & it will turn out good as new.

Poor Greg. He worked all day yesterday on the floor in the kitchen & had to pull it all up. When I got home from work I asked him why he left a gap between the boards & that he wasn't going to be able to fill that in. So he ripped it all up, got the neighbor over (who just put a floor down) & asked him what to do. Got the answer & now he is at it again. Sure hope it is done by Sat. We had to eat out last night as he had pulled the stove out.

I woke up a little after 1 this morning & couldn't get back to sleep, so got up before 2. Greg got up about 10 or 15 minutes later. We both will be dragging later today, I'm sure.

Well, better get. Have a great day, all!

Listen up all you indoor cat owners. True story, happened here last night. I had just gone to bed and some clicking noise was going off in the house. I have electric starters on my gas stove burners, one burner was ON with flames and the other was clicking. The clicking one meant that gas was escaping to light the burner but it wasn't flaming..............Big Boom had I not been home. I took the Knobs off the stove, JD did it! Who would a thunk this could happen.

I thought I was going to be going to Seattle, but it did not work out. The person that I was going with had a change of plans.

My test went good. It is fun to have easy tests for a change.

School is going well, I am the second highest in one class and another teacher said that I was one of her best students.

Good morning! Still kinda cold here. A lot of places around us got snow, but not us. Supposed to warm up now & rain.

JLW, sorry you missed someone to chat with. We usually pop in when we can. Most of the regulars have dwindled away :..(

We are trying to get things ready for the kitchen party next weekend. Greg has been working hard trying to get the floor down & I have been decorating & thinking about food. He put the floor down on the back porch & got the washer & dryer put back, so I was finally able to do laundry last night. Now he just has the kitchen to do. Hopefully that will go faster than the porch.

CB, your gala affair sounds like fun. What did you find to wear?

Better get going. Still lots to do & have to work every day this week except tomorrow & that will be spent getting a mammogram. The fun never ends! Have a great day, everyone!
