Seems a lot of people do not recognize "Contact Us" as a portal to Live Help - one of their worst moves.
Posted by   ( ) on Feb-09-10 at 06:37:23 PST   Listings
mitey12345 - they still have the online help - To get Live Help go up to the Help box, top right on any eBay page, and click it. On the screen you get, use the Contact Us button. If your browser supports it, you will get a live help screen or a phone number, depending on your problem, or might be told to use webforms. Turn off any pop-up blocker if it is a help screen. It may be a wait, so stick with it.

it seems ebay makes things more difficult day by day instead of making things easier. it used to be you could go to them for help in one of two ways. you could either go to "online help" and chat online with a person that knew SOME of the answers OR they used to have a phone number available to you IF you had a store.
I just wasted 20 minutes and have not been able to find EITHER of these, HELP!!!! Thanks in advance, John

babygaptwins: You need to go to options and mark the countries you do not ship to just putting that statement in your auction description means nothing.

File and Unpaid Item Dispute to try and get the FVF refunded and relist the item AFTER you change the options to ship ONLY to the countries you will ship to.

I am having an issue with another member and can't figure out how to deal with it. This member won an auction of mine and lives in Germany. I don't ship international. Someone asked me about shipping to Germany before the auction ended and I told them I only ship within the US and I posted it on my auction page so everyone could see it. I have told her multiple times that I don't ship international. Her last message said Thank you for your answer, I can't understand why you won't ship the shoes to Germany, now please send me the invoice so I can pay. ??? What do you do with someone like that. I open a case so I could cancel the transaction and get my final value credit fee and she of course denied it. How do I get my credit from this sale and avoid her leaving me negative feedback

This board is volunteer manned by knowledgeable eBay members.....NOT eBay staff.
eBay staff does NOT read the posts here and will not answer your questions here or via email.
The members that help here usually know more than eBay Live Help does!

If no one seems to be here at the time you ask your question, either:
1. Look thru the info in the big colored post below.
2. Scroll down and read some of the other poster's questions for similar problems and the responses they received. Your problem may have already been addressed and solved.
3. Click on the Community link at the top right of any page and look for a more topic specific board to ask your question.
4. If it's a real emergency, check my me page and use the info there if you need to - http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=ozme
5. To reach ebay go here: The New Live Help Page: http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_us/ChatCategorization.html
and choose the topic option that matches your problem.

One direction to go would be to sell actual items, not codes to cheat the game.

Another would be to not list codes in the games category.

What happened to PayPal Buyer Protection?

PayPal Buyer Protection on eBay existed only for eBay customers who paid for their purchases through a PayPal account. Now purchase protection and issue resolution for your eBay purchases will be managed by eBay, for all eligible payment methods.

Relationship between eBay Buyer Protection and other resolution methods (PayPal Buyer Protection, and credit card/debit card chargebacks)

The eBay resolution process is the primary avenue for settling issues with on-eBay transactions. However, buyers will still have the option to continue with the PayPal system instead, or to file a chargeback if they paid using a credit card. Once a buyer selects a system, eBay, PayPal, or chargeback, they are required to use that system for the duration of the case.

Hi
I purchased an item from an ebayer and when it was delivered [a book] it was split down the spine.......paid almost $100 with shipping. Emailed the seller, no reply and again and again..........no reply. Reported it to the Resolution Center and they got him to agree to a full refund........returned the book with insurance, tracking # and signature required, still nothing, he never picked it up from his delivery address. Post Office will return item if not collected by him, he has my money and the book! Went back to the resolution center and escalated it and they said I'd hear back from them in 48 hours......... its now been over three days and nothing from the RC.......where do I go from here?
Thanks

garyh860: File a Non Paying Bidder dispute immediately and relist the item, block the bidder on your Blocked Bidders List which you can find on the site map, center column and since you are new it would probably be best to limit your selling to USA until you get more experience selling on ebay. You will need to change your selling options so your auctions will only be shown to countries you will ship to, also require a PayPal account in your listings. As far as the Second Chance offere goes, in your My Ebay (I think) you can do that from there, just be aware you cannot change the amount of the bid for that bidder, whatever their highest bid was at the end of the auction is the ONLY amount you can be paid.

And file "Seller wants more money" - Go up to Help link in top right box of any eBay page, click the link and choose Contact Us link. Choose the Other Topics option and look for appropriate topic.

rvparksuppliescom - we can't help - ask eBay - To get Live Help go up to the Help box, top right on any eBay page, and click it. On the screen you get, use the Contact Us button. If your browser supports it, you will get a live help screen or a phone number, depending on your problem, or might be told to use webforms. Turn off any pop-up blocker if it is a help screen. It may be a wait, so stick with it.

Or maybe ask on the Stores Board.

This board is volunteer manned by knowledgeable eBay members.....NOT eBay staff.
eBay staff DOES NOT read the posts here and WILL NOT answer your questions here or via email.
The members that help here usually know more than eBay Live Help does AND we're easier to find AND quicker to answer!

5. To reach ebay via live chat go here: The New Live Help Page: http://pages.ebay.com/help/contact_us/ChatCategorization.html
and choose the topic option that matches your problem.

The answer to almost any ebay problem can be found in the A to Z Help Index.

The shipping you have listed in the description is $5.00 but on the shipping charges part of the auction you have $1.50 which is it? You cannot charge more than $1.50 for shipping as stated on the auction itself, what you say in the description doesn't count.
Posted by   ( ) on Feb-08-10 at 10:39:12 PST   Listings
nard381.....if you listed it with the opening bid of $9.99 and a 'or Buy It Now for $300.00' with no reserve, the BIN would have become a mute point when the bidder chose to bid the $9.99 instead of using the BIN option.
eBay cannot force you to sell it, but expect the buyer to report you as a non-performing seller and also expect a negative.
Posted by   ( ) on Feb-08-10 at 10:37:41 PST   Listings
nard381

Your buyer didn't use Buy It Now - they bid and won at the starting price. You are obligated to sell to your winning bidder.

If you can't afford to sell at the starting price you need to use a reserve.
Posted by   ( ) on Feb-08-10 at 10:37:14 PST   Listings
nard381: Perhaps when you revised the BIN price the last time on 2/5/2010 you made an error and the buyer won the auction with a price of $9.99 with one bid.

michellexoxox........also read this:

Go to your My eBay Account tab and in the left side menu look for and click on: Site Preferences...then scroll down the page a little way and click on: Buyer Requirements: Block buyers who: and then over to the right click Show and then Edit and that will take you to the preferences page where you'll have the option to block the kind of bidders that you do not want bidding on your future auctions.
Such as:
* Don't have a PayPal account.
* Have received 2 Unpaid Item Strike(s) within 1 Month(s).
* Are registered in countries to which I don't ship.
* Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 1 Month(s).
* Have a feedback score of -1 or lower.
* Are currently winning or have bought 10 of my items in the last 10 days. (Only apply this block to buyers who have a feedback score of 5 or lower.)
Choose the options you want to set, then click Save changes.
And also add their ID to your Blocked Bidder List so they cannot bid on your items again with that ID: http://pages.ebay.com/services/buyandsell/biddermanagement.html
Unwelcome and malicious buying policy: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/unwelcome-buying.html (be sure to open and read the Some Examples and Additional Information sections near the bottom of the page)

For Buy It Now or Fixed Price listings ( eligibility requirements apply - check the A - Z Help Section for the BIN and FP requirements: http://pages.ebay.com/help/index/A.html ), use PayPal's Immediate Payment option.
This option pretty much stops the Nigerian scammers that use the Buy It Now option.

Probably not worth a phone call, but if you want to, go to Site Map, and in the far right column, Under "Connect", use the Find Contact Information link to get phone number. You will need the auction number and the member's eBay ID.

portraits-n-paper... I just looked at your "Me" page and one of your auctions, thanks. I can always use a chuckle this time of the day.

Even though you have been an Ebay user for over 8 years you might want to reread the "selling practices policy" page. Several of the things on your "Me" page are completely NOT in accordance with Ebay's policies.

"Any item is insurable in the usa. We will not replace, refund or credit lost mail."...Wrong, YOU are responsible for getting the item to your buyer. They do NOT have to buy insurance to cover themselves. Paypal will take care of them.

"We will accept returns - limited to incorrect discription. any Damage is the responsibility of the postal service- we suggest you buy insurance if desired. We will not allow other returns. we do not refund shipping and handling, bulk lots or electronics"...... Wrong, if your buyer makes a claim with paypal they WILL get their money, including original shipping, back from you as soon as they can show the item was returned using on-line trackable delivery confirmation.

Your auction states "Not responsible for non delivery of mail. we will not refund or replace lost untracked mail"... If YOU can't prove that it was deliverd to your buyer YOU will have to refund them their entire payment, bid and shipping. All they have to do is submit a "item not received" claim with paypal. If you can't provide an on-line trackable method showing deleivery - you lose...

Anyway, As Cdaniels said, Ebay is voluntary. If you don't want to abide with the policies/guidelines that they have established, that is you choice. Just don't use their services then complain about how they are unfair or how you have been ripped off.

don't live in IL do you?

Uh oh! I'm the pack rat in this house -- and he'd better not touch the stuff that I decide is worth keeping!!! But I can't believe what an absolute dodo I am about this "speed bump" thing -- I'm totally embarrassed! Apparently I "best offered" those two items (14 mm blue agate beads -- I'm a jeweler) on October 26th 2009 -- these are the ones that I'm being congratulated about and I guess PayPal can't figure out what to do with a 4-month old transaction that has already been paid. Aaaaaaaaugh! Now I just have to go back and root around in my stock to find the stuff that I already have -- talk about pack-rattery!

But thanks for your help anyway -- I've enjoyed chatting with you in between laundry loads.

p.s. Funny: I too live out of town and also have terrible DSL service out here!

I use both firefox and IE8 and I have never had any trouble with either but a lot of folks do so I'm not sure why that is and I live 20 miles from the nearest town and have absolutely terrible DSL service out here.

actually we moved 9 months ago and I'm still not unpacked completely, I live with a pack rat so I have to go slowly when getting rid of things that are not wanted, needed, or used any longer, very, very slowly

cd: You're a treasure (and hard working -- it sounds like you're moving) to help me out this way! I'll try the route you suggest thru PayPal.

BTW: I'm a true FireFox believer; I never touch IE -- unless I can't help it ;-)

sorry for the delayed post I'm playing mind numbing games while waiting for 4am when I get my honey up so he can go to work then I'm headed back to the basement to sort through more stuff that needs to be filed, shredded, burned, given away or otherwise put away and I'll start another load of laundry while I'm down there as well and fold the clothes that are on the laundry table, chores never stop it seems.

bzk1000: I believe you can go to PayPal and put in the ebay auction number and pay that way.

Might try a different browser as well especially if you are using IE8, seems to give a lot of users problems.

cd: I did all that cookies, on-off business earlier, but in the meantime, I've been trying to find out what else could be wrong, so I went to my PayPal account to see if I could pay from there. There was no trouble connecting and there was a list of the items that I need to pay -- but not the one that I mentioned (the "best offer"). Again, when I go back to the page that says "congratulations," I still can't go any further than the page that says "speed bump . . . " So, apparently, PayPal is not just doing housecleaning. Something else is amiss. Help, please.

Sorry about your chronic insomnia; I have chronic pain that starts at about 10pm and goes on until 4am. Where is it written that life is supposed to be a lot of fun?

bzk10000: If you still have problems tomorrow, clean out your cookies, cache and temporary internet files then turn the computer off completely then try again, that helps sometimes after PayPal and ebay have been doing maintenance which is usually on Sunday I believe.

I'm up all hours, chronic insomnia does that to you.

cd: I hope you're right about paypal. Thanks for the reply -- nice to know that I'm not the only one up in the wee hours!

bzk10000: Apparantly paypal is doing maintenance, if the bid was accepted then it is accepted and you can pay tomorrow when paypal is available

My "best offer" was accepted by the seller, but it doesn't show up in my "won" column; when I bring up the item page, it says "congratulations" for having won, but when I try to pay the item I get this message: "Sorry, you've hit a speed bump! Please try again in a few minutes. If this problem persists, report an issue to eBay support. Error Code #50301." Because today is Sunday and late, I can't contact eBay by phone or chat, and there is only one more item left that I can bid on if my "offer" doesn't go through, and that bidding happens tomorrow morning at 7:00 am. Any suggestions?

it could also be a bad email address;
again on the seller's end.

either way, seller needs to call paypal and get it fixed

If someone on QA had not mentioned tacos I would have never thought about them. I am pretty sure I could survive with no problem on tacos and cereal

the last time i saw that 'unclaimed' message,
it was a credit card payment via paypal,
and the seller was not set up to accept credit cards -
i think they have a personal account, and not a business account? its been a long time, my memory's fuzzy.

it will time out eventually. if the seller files a claim,
you respond with the paypal transaction number,
and invite them to fix their paypal account.

I can't remember when I was last at a Taco Bell - years and years ago I think

I don't even know if there is one in this valley

I can tell you what he is going to do, he will turn the heater on and direct it to the floor and put the tacos there on the ride home and roll down the window because he will get too hot.
