Wink, I always wonderd if the starter switch went out the transmission would have to be unbolted (maybe there is a plate for access, but I do not remember one), but I think you have to split the tractor open to get at it, think about that!.

Got all the fluids cganged yesterday on the ew...old tractor. Found out it IS a 1954 (my birth year). That makes it a perfect project for restoration. Not really much do do except cosmetic stuff now.
A 4-cylinder that holds 7 qts of oil w/filter. 5 gallons of 80-90 gear oil for transmission/differential combined.
the starting system is in the stick shifter. Just turn on the key and push the stick forward to engage the starter. Pretty cool, eh?

A good friend of mine had a 1975 Nova Ralley, it started out with a 2bbl 5 liter, but he needed it to go on 40 or 50 mile trips to work, so we rebuilt a 6 cylinder for it, and replaced to "air conditioned" 5 liter (his brother ran it out of oil and it busted a connecting rod). He got drunk one night after work and got in a wreck and ended his life. I felt it was kinda my fault because I put the car together with him. Please use a designated driver.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the stickshift starter, It should start fairly easy with a 12 volt. Are the back tires fluid filled? I had a front iron thing almost looed like a cowcatcher from a train, mounted ahead of the grill and you could put a ball hitch on it so you could push a trailer with the front of the tractor, and of course I could so the same from the draw hitch also.

It appears Mr. Haney will be visiting you at the farm (Wink Acres) and try to sell you useless stuff.

Have you heard about or felt this?

SAN FRANCISCO – Residents of Northern California's Humboldt County were rocked by a magnitude-5.9 earthquake Thursday, but officials said there were no immediate reports of major injury or damage from the second large temblor to hit the area within a month.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake struck at 12:20 p.m. about 35 miles northwest of the community of Petrolia and nearly 50 miles west of Eureka. The shaking was felt within a 150-mile radius, as far north as southern Oregon and as far south as Sonoma County, according to the USGS Web site.

HOT WHEEL FANS. I would appreciate your help if you don't mind. I am new to eBay and I am about to list some Hot Wheels. Can you give me any advice on how to pack and ship them so that they remain in perfect condition? Is wrapping them with lots of bubble wrap the best way? What about shipping a lot of 5 or 10 cars? Stack together or wrap individually before placing in box? I want to make sure no corners of the card get bent during shipping, etc. Also, what is your preferred method of shipping?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

If I do not know where the item is going to come from I do not watch that item or bid on it. Come on everyone, let us know where you are from.

You have bid on a bucket load of items.
I just cross checked your bid history.
What are the item numbers of each auction?
I could look at each auction, but, that would take a lot of my time.
Looking at each auction you won may be a good way to understand a bit more of this transaction as well.

Posted by   ( ) on Feb-03-10 at 10:57:36 PST   Listings
franklinsdaddy
I am guessing more than one auction was involved?
Did you contact seller before bidding to confirm combined shipping costs?
Have you contacted seller since the end of the auction(s) to confirm shipping costs are correct?
If more than one auction is involved, what was the shipping cost per each item?
How did you pay?
PayPal?
How were the items shipped?
You should be able to cross reference shipping costs from your end.
If nothing else, you can give the seller a negative feedback for overpricing shipping costs.
You might be able to use that reason as leverage to get a few dollars back from seller, unless you might feel guilty for holding feedback as a hostage situation.
What other details concerning the transaction can you volunteer?

If the items were paid with PayPal, you can request the seller to refund a partial shipping fee.

Thanks Legman. I actually knew it was a Ferguson. It is in fact a TE-20 made in Canaduh. It has the Contental 120 ci ohv engine with near 20hp. Four speed transmission and 3-[point hitch. It has been conver4ted to 12 volt also.
We might trade our trailer 7x14 trailer for it but still waiting to hear back on that issue. I hope it is a 1954 model (my birth year). No serial number but I found out that I can get an approx year by checking the tranny casting number. It will show the year it was cast and the factories usually put them into the tractors within 3 months of casting. Close enough for now.

Reverse on that tractor is push the lever down (spring loaded), and up into reverse, kind of like what the old volkswagons were like on the stick shifter.
there is probably a lever along the transmission to pull forward to engage the power takeoff, I think it was on the right.

That Johnson video was all right, thanks King.

Wink you can use a five bolt truck rim (I think they were five bolt) on the front end with regular 15 inch tires, and you can even reverse the rims put them either way, normal or reverse in case they rub anywhere. I used truck rims on the front of mine when the originals rotted out. (N's havbe skinnier tires and rims, so this has to be a Ferguson.

TE or TO not sure which is which. Ferguson invented the 3 point hitch, Ford took over making htem during WW2 and stole the idea from the British (Ferguson) when they started putting their name on them. Ford Ferguson's

That is a great idea and I know where a 427 is about a mile from us. Doubt if he would let it go though. I think he has two of em too.
We are gonna take a ride today and talk to the owner, take lots of pics, and then research the serial number. I found a site on-line where I can do that.
Thanks for the input guys.
Actually, I don't know what I would do with that tractor, cept drive it around the two miles of road that is private here. Maybe a parade or two.
Farmer Wink? My family back in Kalifornia would think I flipped my wiggie fer sher!
The seat is an aftermarket one (bout $89 worth) I know what the originals look like and actially found a tractor just like it for $2500 that is pretty straight but has a spun rod bearing.

Winkr
That do looky like a 50s era Ferguson.
Fords had different shape grilles, an 8n an 9n had different transmissions.
Easier fer you to tell cause you can get the ID number off of it.
Seat looks like a generic aftermarket on that era tractor, maybe lotsa plastic an not much metal in it, with stiff/firm cover.

Tink, so far my research shows it to be a 1955 Ferguson TE-20. I will wait to see what Legman and Outlaw have to add. I know that Legman restores tractors.

Whom-ever has that tractor may have the lights, a scoop, and a pull behind blade, just so you know.

NFL pro-bowl is early this year, a week before the Superbowl. I can't figure that one out.

Looks like it has had great care. By the picture, it looks in very good condition. Tractors can get abused, so find yerself an old-timer that knows about tractors, maybe to help you find what to look for as far as wear and useage.
Posted by   ( ) on Jan-27-10 at 16:44:54 PST   Listings
You should be happy- that old 9-N is made by Ford.
Posted by   ( ) on Jan-27-10 at 16:44:21 PST   Listings
I remember seeing a hot-rod tractor like that on RFD TV. It actually had an old-flat head V8.
Posted by   ( ) on Jan-27-10 at 16:42:58 PST   Listings
Wink- I would say it looks like an older Ford 9-N. I can tell by the curvy hood. Maybe an early or mid-50's vintage. They were supposed to be real work horses. Best to do your home-work on this one, to see what you are going after.

Ok guys, I have a question for you tractor lovers.
We drove past it and took a picture. It is probably for sale but we didn't ask...yet. Anyone know what year or model it might be? I thought it looked like a hot rod tractor. Nice lines and paint on it.

Good eye Tink! Actually that engine was on the back of the train to help push. It was passing under a walkway in the woods.

I am so done with taking crap from people. Last night some jerk in a big old SUV tried to cut me off just to get in front of me to turn left. I guess he got pretty miffed when I wouldn't just roll over and play dead for him, and let him have his way. It must have been pretty hard for him to move one car back and one lane over to get behind me. I didn't know how good my brakes actually were until the moron hit his high-beams in my mirror. I guess his brakes must have been pretty good too. See, I drive a 23 year old clunker that I am not afraid of denting, especially when it comes to a bonehead that wants to rear-end me. That is automatically his fault, and money in my pocket.

I kinda figured, more than a week later, after sending my feed-back comments to the new users I have and a firm e-mail to eBay about it, I have heard absolutely nothing from anyone. Imagine my surprise. But if you are late making a payment, or a bidder thinks you are taking too long to send something, you never hear the end of it.
