Good morning.
I am pleased to read that Gene Colan is well enough to make a 3 day appearance at the Pittsburgh Comicon. Some of you may recall that I linked a story about 2 years past, in which it was posted that Colan was quite ill. I'm happy to read he recovered.

So. Is the villain in the upper right the inspiration for Iron Jaw? LOL!

I somehow hope that should the ratings on this episode be higher than the norm, that the producers will be forced to acknowledge that heroes in costumes will/do work, and move towards a familiar red/blue suit for Clark.
Thanks for the cat imagery. I'd forgotten after all this time. LOL!

I recognized Waller from the cartoon as well. She was portrayed spot-on I thought. Many of the shows elements harkened/paid homage to both the film Watchmen, and the Justice League cartoon series.

Any idea of accumulation totals, Rashka? Happy to read your commute was made safely.

Did anyone catch Smallville last eve? Overall, I enjoyed Absolute Justice. It started out slow, but built momentum about 25 minutes in. The intro of Amanda Waller, and Tess Mercer's relationship, were something I hadn't foreseen. I guess I'd better stop, or proclaim *SPOILERS AHEAD* LOL!

I have a collection of the original Sherlock Holmes stories, as they appeared in the Strand magazine. It may be that mystery novels may press some of the same reader buttons that crime-fighting comics do, since I was never a mystery-novel reader when I was a regular buyer of the superhero comicbooks.

Yeah, ain't that the truth.
My understanding is that they photo-copied the original Kirby, Ditko, Heck, and Colan artwork, thenused that very limiting animation style to make the characters appear to "move". The only part that actually appeared to move, were the various characters lips! LOL!

Hey, Nick. You were kind to offer up Snow In August as a good novel, so allow me to do the same. I just concluded Impact by Douglas Preston. It's a good science based thriller, written in a style not unlike Michael Crichton. I think you'd enjoy reading it.

Good afternoon everyone! I'm glad Spidey drew such a response.
That image is (more or less) from the 1966 set of posters released by Personality Posters. I had them scanned about a decade ago, and a friend at Sarges manipulated the background on the Spidey using Photo Shoppe(sp?) The original backgrounds were white.
The artist, which may come as a surprise is Marie Severin. And it was/is Steve Ditko who first drew Spidey in such a classic pose.

twrcrn: The easiest method to determine "what I have", is to compare your comic titles, vs. the same titles on eBay. Just remember that the condition of comics (or grade), is paramount in judging their potential final value. Check this easily understandable grading tutorial. http://www.teako170.com/grade.html
Finally, comics are only 'worth' what another individual is willing to pay to add them to his/her collection.

Heck, some of them work out better than the superhero stuff. The one "independent comic" I guess the world will never see is what would have resulted from the Hernandez Brothers getting to write and draw the "Apartment 3G" comic strip.

I'm just interested in talking about Marvel Comics from the 1960's to the early 1980's. DCs bore me, with the exception of Roy Thomas' All-Star Squadron run from 81-87. Well, if anyone wants to rap, I'm always available!!!

Well, you will probably get some quicker responses on the Computer Chat board, and I will remain mute, as I have zilch experience with wireless.

As always, a google search with all the right keywords may steer you to a page where the same problem is solved.

If I thought that would help.....Anyhoo, it doesn't seem to be generating any responses. I hope that changes. I also hope that I worded it in a way that makes sense to most.

Yeah, that first HT series never interested me much as I've never been a big fan of Springfield. This one was okay but the plot of a runaway train's been a bit overused since John Wayne was in "Hurricane Express" way back in 1932. (It was nice to see that one guy from "Pushing Up Daisies" on it, tho'.)

Human Target Special (November 1991) "Coming Soon to ABC-TV!"

Whoa, now here's a bit of info I didn't know: Human Target ran for one season (1992-93? - IMDB says 7 episodes) on ABC, starring that heartthrob, Rick Springfield!

I watched the new "Human Target" show and thought it was pretty good (a new episode tonight). Probably watch that on a regular basis IF they maintain the quaility.

Morning Hulk, no worries its all good! :)

The movie adaptation of the Green Hornet will be interesting if Kato is played by a woman as he was supposed to be the Green Hornet's valet and manservant as well as sidekick. Do you suppose they will do a remake of the Lone Ranger with a woman playing Tonto?

Hahaha! Thanks, Rashka! when that came into Sarges, my buddy Bob put it aside for me, as he knows my taste now runs to the more obscure...LOL!
Heroes:My comment was a general one, and not directed towards you. I've had a number of misunderstandings here over the years regarding posted remarks, so I'll chalk it up to that, a misunderstanding.

Getting back to the commentary regarding comicbook related interpretations; I've read that the latest incarnation of this characters side-kick is going to be portrayed as a woman.

You're absolutely correct, B-guys. It's best to enjoy comic related films, etc., for what they are. I'd only add and be happy for the opportunity to view heroes 'come to life'. Albeit sometimes in a derivative form.

And now for something completely different...

Neither tv or movie adaptations of comic book characters rarely are right on the mark due to either production costs or the writer's desire to recreate the character "in their own image". I usually just ignore the faults and seperate it from the original source material as far as possible and accept it as what it is. The most lame adaptation was last year's "The Spirit". Big production costs, big name stars, horrible film where Frank Miller attempted to turn the classic Eisner character into something he would have written himself instead of being faithful to the original newspaper strips.

I honestly don't comprehend the annoyance some comic geeks have displayed towards this adaptation of Hawkman. It's TV, with I'm sure a small budget. I'm pleased that Smallville is incorporating other heroes from the DC universe. Now bring back Michael Rosenbaum, dammit! LOL!

I'm still watching Smallville, but have been disappointed that it's become very stagnant. My must watch TV show this year, and last is Fringe.
I just finished watching the boxed set of the short-lived ABC series Life On Mars. I really enjoyed the subtle plot, as well as an authentic take on 1973 in NYC. Having made Manhattan and the surrounding environs my stomping grounds during that decade, I can attest to their interpretation.

An Expose of Atlas Comics by one of the Company's Founders
(AT&T could learn something about light-speed communications by tapping into the comics industry grapevine. The most impressive such transmission of data in my experience occurred when Neal Adam’s cover for Iron Jaw #1 was stolen. Neal knew about the theft within 10 minutes of our realizing at the office that it was gone—and while the guy has many extraordinary talents, I don’t believe that ESP is one of them.)
