When you add to the PB code that might be changing the code and not allowing it to post . Do you copy/paste the code from PB ? And remember that even the "<" and ">" have to be tight to the code with NO spacing between the code .

PhotoBucket & eBay photo uploading:

Have just joined PhotoBucket as a cheap way to store photos online; but when we try to upload these directly to eBay via the SYI form - so that the free photo will show next to the item listing - eBay's system claims there are spaces in the file name. But there aren't any spaces (we replaced them all with underscore characters)! Any ideas anybody?

Thanks

denis the ME pages have been malfunctioning for about 3 months now, i've contacted ebay help but no help there. i tried to replace one of my pics but it totally disappeared so i left my second pic there that's all i have now.

zeus i don't have a store, but i often use 30-day good till canceled and they always renew after the 30 days. if i want to stop the listing, then use the dropdown to end it.

invincible the auction listing can't put pics in like that, you have to use the browse & pay for pictures

attictreasures what you want to do will require some skill to wrangle HTML. provide target= "_blank" to open a new tab then specify the href="http... for your destination URL address and then img src="http... with your picture reference. like this

Hi, I host my photos. I am wondering why changes I made in my gallery photos take don't take effect on EBay. Some do, some don't. When you check the listing, the gallery photo is changed, but when you go to Active Selling and EBay Store, they didn't change. Strange is, it didn't happen to all, but only to some. I went to Help Pages, to Live Help, but nobody could help me. Anyone please?

twangerstudios,

You can resize your photos with HTML by including the height and width attribute inside the image tag. For example:

<img src="http://www.myhost.com/mypic.jpg" width="100" height="100">

However, this is something that I advise against doing. The photo is still it's full size. You are just merely using HTML tags to shrink the image. It also doesn't reduce the file size, so your viewers still have to wait for the photos to load.

Another negative to doing this is that browsers don't do a very good job of resizing images. In some cases, the images are going to look either blurry or blocky.

Cropping, resizing, and compressing before loading the photos online is always the best route to go. The photos will look much better than trying to resize with HTML, and the file sizes will be smaller making the photos quick to load.

You can resize with Microsoft Paint, but you have to do so by using percentages. That method isn't really practical.

Instead, use and editor such as Irfanview. It's free and can be downloaded here:

http://www.irfanview.com/

Here is a tutorial on using Irfanview:

I do self hosting for my images on Ebay, but recently the company that stored
my pictures shut down. I have transferred all my images to another hosting company, but the URL links for my products still shows my old hosting company’s
link. There must be a way to do a mass update of just the URL link. It would take
me weeks to update each page one by one. I have contacted Ebay’s technical staff,
but they either don’t know how to fix my problem or they direct me to a 50 page file on exchange template instructions. There must be a simple way to update all your URL picture links at once. I can’t be the only person to have wanted to change his hosting
company.

Question-Ebay allows one pic for free then .15 thereafter. When a seller uses either their own html template or one from (say) auctiva to sell on ebay and there are several pics included in the template-Does the seller pay for the several extra pics? Or can a seller still keep their own pics at an ouside server and sell using html software?

BY FAR the best security for your images is to place your business card or a pre-printed card with your eBay ID printed on it directly on the item and then photograph it. Be certain to place it in a spot where it cannot be cropped out and still be usable to someone trying to hack your images. You can explain the precautions in your description.

Get an add-on for your Mavica. Either a close-up set, including +1, +2, +3 and, macro lenses; OR, a combination wide-angle + macro add-on. No need to buy another camera.
Once you get that close to the item your are photographing, lighting also becomes a problem. Make sure you have plenty of light and you aren't leaving any shadows on the item or surrounding background.

OK - I'm sure others have dealt with this but I'm trying to add a photo to my listing and can not because I have bids. There is something about HTML that might be a Plan B. Is anyone familiar with this from past experience. I don't wont to cancel the listing and start over because I've already invested so much time in answering questions from interested bidders.

HiYa Connie . . .
I remember those days; when no gallery, no picture hosting by the eBay and, we had total "code freedom" on the site. I remember when the first "Chat" board (eBay Cafe) was launched and, when "Pongo" got the "Images/HTML" board started. "Cherbear" was around . . . "MrHTML" and, of course, "DeadZoom" and the "OldGrouch" dazzled us all with his command of the code. OH! For just one week back to those days = PRICELESS!

I am sure this has been brought up but I don't seem to be able to find an answer. Ebay doesn't allow javascript and I am trying to put a wimzi widget on all of my listings. Other people have it on their listings and I am trying to figure out how they get around containing the javascript.

I see some people are having images problems. Me too. First I couldn't get to embed my page in the classified ad because, it turned out the autoresponder i used had javascript. so i used a different one and could embed the page (like all the other classified ads) but now i just see outlines where all the imagaes should be.

the html is copy pasted from the webpage, and the images show on the web.

it's #250509785218

Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

Hi Ebay community. I am having trouble with html and would really appreciate any help. Up until now I have used my own images designed in Fireworks for my listings stored on my own server. All good, no probs. Now I would like to jazz up the listings using html. The following is what I had in mind. I take the original image then add smaller pics of other listings, slice up the image and create a html file using Dreamweaver. I then load the html file with images to my server. I then revise my listing to point to the html file instead of the jpg. When I preview the listing I get a red cross instead of seeing the file. Is what I am trying to do possible or am I really, really stupid? Please help.
regards
Steve

Hi folks, I've been away from Ebay for only a few months but naturally things have changed. I've listed a few auctions using my old html templates. I've noticed that even though I use 'center' before my table the auction shows up stuck to the right of the page. Also, I use table width of 100%. Should I change that to pixels?
My monitor is only about 15" diagonal, do my auctions appear
different on a larger monitor?

I recently looked at another seller's listing and noticed that he/she added some very nice flash (in the form of some text-effects) AND he/she also added a few flash-based website templates (the listing was selling a package of web templates and various other software). I really thought that these additions to his/her listing truly "sold" their package-it was so professional looking! That said, I will be listing something similar to their package and want to know how to add flash (and more importantly, flash-website templates)to it. I have done some research and though I might be mistaken, it looked as if you couldn't add flash to an Ebay listing (per Ebay rules). Anyhow, I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me more about this-I have some experience building websites, so I am not entirely in the dark...Advice anyone???
Thanks,
Matt
