Today my daughter and I went to the antique glass show at Del Mar CA. I have never seen so much jewelry in one place. It was almost scary to be around so many diamonds.

okay I just peeked and see it still has more time too go...and has five bidders that's GREAT! I finally met with my gold gal I kept missing, made her a ballpark offer and she's supposed too get back too me in the next couple of days, so keep a good thought for me PLEASE! In the meantime, too all of you out there lurking or posting as the case may be, be sure and check out the clasps on chains for gold content, I was very very pleasantly surprised the other day when I noticed a chain I had forever and a day and NEVER in a million years would have EVER thought it was gold because it had what looked like black in it???? braided design, had a closure that I could tell was a marriaghe of parts but it was stamped 10k? so I thought why the heck would someone put that 10k clasp on that ugly old braided costume chain? well since I haven't replaced the stolen gold tester yet, I took a little jaunt out too the local pawn shop and had them test it and I was oh so happy too learn that (I weighed it at 29.6 grams prior too taking it in there and my scale is ACCURATE) they told me it weighed 26 grams and it
s 9k gold and offered me 150.00 for it and I told them thanks but I think I'll just hang onto it for awhile LOL so you know I'm shipping that baby off LOL but truly I wouldn't have ever guessed it was gold based on looks, it was the jump ring stamping that caught my eye, so check everything out kiddos, I can't wait too get a new gold tester I hope next week, I can't remember CRS bad lately if I mentioned I had a friend/sort of family member non blood related that had offered too buy me a new gold tester and wanted too more or less go into this gold buying business with me...I met her for lunch at a local restaurant and after about 30 minutes I suddenly realized that I DON'T WANT A PARTNER hehehehe and I'm gonna leave it at that, being very polite here *g* so I'll just keep plugging along like I am because even though I'm usually my worst enemy in some ways *g* I still know what this ole gal is capable of when I'm on my game, so me believes in me again and from where I was standing I was doing her a big favor not the other way around and let
s just say all's well that ends well~! LOL I called and much too her SURPRISE that evening told her I'd have too decline on the offer of the gold tester I thought I'd just wait a bit longer...FINALLY made a decision I am very very comfortable and HAPPY WITH...for A CHANGE hehehe..okay hate too run but Bob just left the dog kids are fast asleep now on the lovesleep and couch and I need too get my behind in gear and out of here...so hugs Ms. MG I'll not be away so long I hope, so be careful what you wish for hehehehehe...Where is Shanti? I keep hoping she'll be here so I can say HOWDY and see how things are? if she pops by before I make it back tell her too drop me an email if she has a moment and I'll catch up with you fine guys and gals a bit later....I haven't even checked my email in days but since I am having a 50 moment right now *g* my password seems too have slipped my mind? bbl

Hey are you talking toooo MOI? lmao the noive the sheer noive hehehehehe...believe me I've wanted too be here but it's been kwazeeeeeeeeeeeeey as usual around here and this has been the first day I've had a chance too post! Pinkie is in giving Bob the handyman heeeeel LOL he's trying too hang some blinds for me but Ms. Pinkie is standing guard from the couch in the living room watching his EVERY MOVE hehehehe...he also finished repairing the security door where
Bailey punched her head thru trying too attack Coco *sigh* and THANKFULLY, the big plumbing problem the other day wasn't as bad as I thought it would be he just had too replace some hoses and put a new faucet but it could have been a whole lot worse ....so what's new and exciting?

This board has been a blessing for me. Glitz, I got up late this morning to, my back is giving me hell this morning, about twice a year it goes out on me and will be that way for about a week, my doc wanted me to have it operated on and I told him, no way, I can take it twice a year but if it was an every day thing,I would have to do something else.
Guess I had better do some listing. bbl.
where's Becca? I'm getting tired of her trifling ways, she runs in and talks for a day or two and then disappears. lol

mg, i learned about everything on this board also. i started with webtv and that was so easy, but when i made the switchover to a real computer the people on this board pretty much kept me from throwing it out the window, LOL

Glitz, I did it thanks to Pawdee.lolI got my education on the jewelry board, and that's a fact. When I first came to this board, I had just learned to turn a computer on and had listed on e-bay twice. Julyfly was the first one to talk to me and she took me under her wing and started walking me thru stuff, then fg,You, Kathi, Jeanie and some I don't remember. I did have a list of everybody's name, address and e-bay name. But if it hadn't been for this board, I would have already took a hammer to this computer and went after the beings at e-bay. lol

Good morning all,

Supposed to turn cold on Saturday, I think. But for now we have (or will have when it gets up) sunshine. thank you for all the compliments on my blanket!

My friend, Linda, is coming over this morning and bringing her jewelry cleaner and glue. Her and her husband were rockhounds in Decatur. He passed about 10 months ago, but prior to that they made a lot of jewelry and hit a lot of sales. I digitized and embroidered the logo for the Central Illinois Gem Club. That was a lot of work. I am trying to talk her into setting up a site, but I don't think it will happen. I will show her this site when she gets here today and she will see how nice people are.

Going to have an easy day, I think. Linda this am, lunch with my friend Tim, list some stuff sometime during the day. Tomorrow I have the Anita Good thing at the shop where Bret works.

So for now, off to do something! LOU

Good morning everyone..
clothing for the 30's I don't think I remember what they look like? I didn't arrive until the 40's, but think they had big sholder pads and tapered to the waist, kinda clingy.
I might have a hat from my mother-in-laws estate, with net and all that stuff.

Posted by   ( ) on Nov-18-09 at 23:39:30 PST   Listings
leforme, I just happened in and looked at your bracelet.

(1) Are you positive its celluloid? Early celluloid smells like camphor, later cellulose acetate smells like vinegar tested briefly under warm water. It becomes brittle with age

(2) Yours looks more like a newer synthetic polymer that replaced the Celluloid. Celluloid dates roughly from 1900-1930. LTJ

Good morning everyone..
Welcome back vintage memories.. My son is leaving for Florida on Thursday, not staying for a month. Wish he could..
Glitz - I like the mustang, but 5.5 is a little out of my budget..
On the cinnabar bracelet, I have 2 and each is a little different from the other.. one believe it or not is magnetic.. one looks alot like the one in your photo..

Hi everyone. I'm back from my month vacation to Tampa, Florida where I visited my daughter and grandchildren. I had a great time. I wish I could have brought some of that warm weather back with me to British Columbia. It's quite chilly here and raining cats and dogs. Great to be back. I'm raring to get going again. Time to start taking pictures and listing again. Hope all of you have been well. I have lots of reading to do to catch up on what's been happening on this Board.

jennifer, please do not advertise in the chat rooms.... it is not allowed.
you have nice jewelry....different from most i have seen..... but you need to work on your pictures.....too dark and they are fuzzy. also, look at ebay's fees and you will see that when your starting price is $10.00 you pay one listing fee....but if you lower it .01 to $9.99 you save a significant amount on your listing fee. you might want to use spell check also.
good luck with your jewelry and please come back with any questions....just do not mention anything you have listed....or even that you are a seller. :)
Posted by   ( ) on Nov-16-09 at 15:52:05 PST   Listings
Jennifer, read the red print above, we discuss jewelry here but you are not allowed to advertise or discuss anything that is already listed. If you have some vintage jewelry and need some info, one of us will be happy to answer, but no ads.

fg, that is a great idea......telling the current bidders that you will give them a % off if they are the winner after you relist!! heck, as a buyer, if i got an email like that i would bid even more after it was relisted and i would remember that seller! it really doesn't take much to impress buyers......just a little sign that you appreciate them makes all the difference in the world.

good morning lou, pawdee, and fg! you too, snowbikerxcr......you might have treasure after all! i think you have gone as far as you can on your own and pawdee is correct....time to visit a jeweler for further research. got my fingers crossed for you!!

lou, you learn to save every rhinestone, faux pearl, etc you see.......you never know when you will need them for repair. and some companies had stones made only for them so i even buy earrings with stones missing sometimes just in case i even need those rare stones in something else.

Ok, I guess today is the day I become an official "joolie"
according to glitz!
Quick question before I go write in my blog. (More about that later.) If a stone falls out and I need to glue it back what kind of glue do I use? Does the glue become different for different compositions, ie, plastic, glass, metal? When I got the necklaces bagged up I was left with a layer of beads, pearls, and grit and such. Being a devouted pack rat, I am sorting them by color, shape, composition, etc. My treasures have now covered the table, 3 chairs and I am working on the island now. We may have to give up eating because the kitchen counter is next and then I will have no where to cook!

ok, i checked out your website and many others about how to tell. so here's what i got
1.it's a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date the band is white and yellow gold looking? the face is gold. there are 8 diamonds and 2 baquets (sp?)on the back is a sticker with the crown the number 18038 and rolex. it looks like it was worn with the sticker. so the sticker is very beat up.
2. i did the water trick for the crystal - check
3. there is no etching that i can see of a crown, but that can mean its just older than when they started that in 02' or 05' - check
4.it has the magnification and that seems to match the pics i've seen.
5.no seal because it is not a kind that would have on - check
6. the sticker like i said is worn and they did not start the hologram until 2002 but no one says what the sticker was like before that except that the number would be black and mine is so - check
7.i do not know how to get the back off or take the band off to check for serial numbers - strike
8. i have followed the instructions online to get it runnung. it has been sitting for an unknown amout of time. it is not running and i have been unsuccessful so far. so i can not tell how the second hand works. - strike
i hope this helps. if it is fake it is a good one. if any one else has any info i would appreciate it. im sorry i can't post a pic

Evelyn-here is the patent to your spinning wheel.

I hope you get a decent amount for it as I have seen
the small version and not this elaborate go for about $50 and from what I can see yours matches the patent.

Glitz: Where are you at in Kansas? I came from Hutchinson and still have family there. Have kids in Lakin and a grand daughter in Holcomb.

I did not know I could actually ask questions. That is frowned upon over at AC. I am not quite ready to start taking pictures and I am sure that this stuff is mostly junk and would surprise me if any is worth much at all.
The earrings that I thought could be valuable are silver filigree and the filigree on the one is corroded and eaten away. The other is a little better.

In the meantime I will keep sorting and I went to the one down there where I had to click on the turkey. Printed some of the stuff out and will read it later for something to make me sleepy.

I think I shall enjoy visiting here and learning about your jewelry.

:) Lou
