good morning everyone..... saddling up for the ride.....
.........haven't used the T.G.I.F. in such a long time....most days I do not know what day it is
Good morning all,
Supposed to turn cold on Saturday, I think. But for now we have (or will have when it gets up) sunshine. thank you for all the compliments on my blanket!
My friend, Linda, is coming over this morning and bringing her jewelry cleaner and glue. Her and her husband were rockhounds in Decatur. He passed about 10 months ago, but prior to that they made a lot of jewelry and hit a lot of sales. I digitized and embroidered the logo for the Central Illinois Gem Club. That was a lot of work. I am trying to talk her into setting up a site, but I don't think it will happen. I will show her this site when she gets here today and she will see how nice people are.
Going to have an easy day, I think. Linda this am, lunch with my friend Tim, list some stuff sometime during the day. Tomorrow I have the Anita Good thing at the shop where Bret works.
So for now, off to do something! LOU
Good morning everyone.. clothing for the 30's I don't think I remember what they look like? I didn't arrive until the 40's, but think they had big sholder pads and tapered to the waist, kinda clingy. I might have a hat from my mother-in-laws estate, with net and all that stuff.
Lou, that is a beautiful blanket and I don't blame you one bit for being proud of it.
hi, all, how about business
In my next life I want to know how to weave and to sew :-)
lou, i am in awe of your talent! i have seen blankets similar to yours but never with such an intricate design....and i always thought they were churned out in some manufacturing plant somewhere.
trying to think what clothing i have from the 30s......i think i only have lots of jewelry from that era. too bad your play isn't set in the 50's in a ladies boudoir....i have some killer negligee (sp?) sets, LOL!
Good day to you all. Hey a day off for Pawdee !!!! Pat - I love the little bottle.. It is beautiful.. Lou _ that is a beautiful blanket.. I would never guess it was hand made.. What talent you have! HI Southernred I haven't seen you in a while.. What Pendant fg ? I must have missed something.. I have been so busy cleaning out the garbage from the house that the tenants moved out of in the middle of the night.. What a day for my son to leave for Florida, he is most likely still at the Airport in Philadelphia..
Fg love the pendant
pawdee run run pawdee nothing do????
Bee how is the arm after going back to work?
HEY MAG!!!!
good afternoon joolies and gems
sharon: it is a very tiny dress; it has a hand worked collar.
Leforme.. I don't think that's big enough.. I'm more of a size 8...and petite.. I may go to the local thrifts to see if I can find something ..even if it needs to be altered to look like the 30's. I do have a couple of hats and the vintage purse. Did you enjoy the play? it seems like it could be hilarious..unless we totally blow it..:-) Sharon
loumercer: that is a gorgeous piece! I hope you are going to stich your name and the date on it someplace for posterity?
sharon: I have an original 1930's dress but I thin it is about a size 3 or 4, will that work?
FG..yes I think so. I believe the Vanderbilt swan logo faces the other way.
Hi All
Sharon what fun!! We saw that play last summer in a little theater in Cannon Beach, OR. It was such a fun evening!! Enjoy!
Heading out for yoga then lunch with the girls followed by knitting with more "girls"....whee my life is SO exciting! lol
If Becca comes around....I need some vintage 1930's clothes for the play that I'm in at the barn theater..BULLSHOT Crummond...fun fun fun Sharon
Good morning all... Love that coffee cup so much I had to make a starbucks run..:-) Sharon
Glitz: That took me about 2 weeks to make. A lot of blood, sweat and tears in this hummer. Thank you for looking. I like to show off my work. LOU
I appear to be gifless and unable to click...unless it is IE
Morning Leon...yes...quick hide
next time I go thru my shoeboxes I will find the original apple core necklace ceramic...hand painted...still with the original paper leaf tag signed by the artist in St. Cloud Minnesota...retailed for $40.00
you're welcome......nothing is too good for the winner of the ugly jeweley contest, LOL!
Jo.....just went to get the morning paper.....and wolla....a lovely book on Charms...what a nice suprise....Thanks so very much
sure helps offset my super crabby mood that my PREVIOUS negative FB has had on me....I've had to call ebay EVERYDAY this week and finally...finally they removed it
lou, you MADE that??? it is absolutely gorgeous!!! how long did it take to make??
leon, hide before someone finds you and thinks of something they need you to do today, LOL

Our gem club is sponsoring a show in Marietta this weekend, we will go down tonight and feast at the "dealer's dinner". It's social where the club members all bring a covered dish and the dealers all get to eat after setting up their booths
Somebody screwed up, I have nothing planed for me to do today, nowhere that I have to go ..... I feel like the axe is about to fall :)
Evelyn, when you go to tinypic, copy the first line of code, the one for websites, paste it here, it will show without clicking
Lou,
Good morning joolies, frosty here in dixie
I am so proud! I have finished weaving my blanket and after much frustration got the pictures on my blog. I would like for you all to see it. It is nothing I am selling and has nothing to do with ebay, or jewelry, just something I am very proud of! Lou clickhereforblog

Hey LTJ!! I thought it looked a bit too good and shiny on the inside to be celluloid... there are no seams anywhere, so I wasn't sure what it was...is it just plastic then?
I know the feeling,I was born in 1940 and that is old. lol
Hi Mag, Nope not sick, just getting old. I just never find the time to stop in unless its late. To many irons in the fire as the old housewives and blacksmiths use to say.
Hi ltj, how are you?You haven't been around the last few days andd we were afraid you may be sick. Good to see you.
That should have read, "Celluloid jewelry dates roughly from 1900-1930." LTJ
leforme, I just happened in and looked at your bracelet.
(1) Are you positive its celluloid? Early celluloid smells like camphor, later cellulose acetate smells like vinegar tested briefly under warm water. It becomes brittle with age
(2) Yours looks more like a newer synthetic polymer that replaced the Celluloid. Celluloid dates roughly from 1900-1930. LTJ
I remember I got it years ago back east and paid 10 bucks for it.
I don't like the "selling" page, lotsa changes since I listed last, but they didn't ask me :)
Darn, that's pretty.can't tell you the value but I will hold on to it for you.lol
do land line = NO land line
...well I am on the other side of the river.....and still frosty about my stinkin' FB situation...do land line here & I am NOT going to waste my precious cell minutes to call eBay for the FOURTH time to get the FB removed....meanwhile my NP buyer is still rackin' up the FB
only in eBay land or the bank (WF)does 24 hours turn into 3 or 4 days
I was trying to use my old version of turbo lister, lost my internet connection lost my pics and descriptions, maybe someone is trying to tell me something :(
Leon....my condolancessp? on the passing of your friend
and the only form of payment you can take or mention in your listing is PAYPAL....any mention of a MO cash check will get your listing ended
Okay I'm gonna break down and list some xmas stuff on ebay, haven't listed here in awhile. I think they said we would have to offer a form of electronic payment, is it "Paypal only" or can we use "Google Checkout" also. Anyone know offhand so I don't spend the rest of the day searching
sid628, read it again especially the part "OR ONE LIKE THIS".
Thanks jo , Evelyn
We were expecting it, she was going downhill fast for a couple weeks, we were with her almost constantly the last couple days
I just bought a necklace today, and received this message: You're the winner. Your early bid took home the prize. The seller has relisted this item or one like this. Why has the seller relisted it, if I bought it!
Fg, I did good to get it there with a click.lol I'm a dumb@$$. I thought it was cute too, just don't know how to put it up.
Pawdee, so sorry about your friend, a girl I went to school was buried yesterday. At our age they start going.
good morning everyone.
so sorry to hear that leon. it seems like once we hit 50 our friends and family start getting really ill and/or passing on. our later years are certainly a time of loss.
Good morning joolies, rain started again yesterday afternoon
We had to go to our friends funeral, the one that went to nursing home awhile back
dang Evelyn....you need to figure out how to make that appear on the page sans click
That is so cute & soooooo you
good morning everyone

It is beautiful. I'm like fg, I would like to hold it but beleive it is art nouveau.
mag: no it is a dark green
Pat , is that black satin glass?
I wish ltj was on every nite. lol His knowledge is fantastic, I wish I knew half as much.
rovinci is venting down there, does he know it does no good, e-bay is not going to police bad sellers. The gold he is talking about is like the .99 diamonds. BS
ltj has not stopped by in awhile......wish he would just check in once in awhile so we don't worry about him. and i am wondering about progress on his book(s)......i am so looking forward to purchasing them and studying!!!
hi xingfu, hopefully as we get more into the holiday season sales will pick up. :) not quite sure what you mean by a "buyer has never had the problem".....? hope you are doing well and the weather is not too cold.
xingfugoods: well business is slow everywhere I am afraid. But as long as we keep our health we'll get by :-)
Hi everyone. How are you. to everyone health and success in business. I recently met a buyer has never had the problem. but i Believe One good turn deserves another. and Hope me everything goes well. thank you, best wishes.
ronvinci: looking at some of your feedback I don't see what you have to yell about.
ronvinci, it is in separate areas. don't yell at us, we don't work for ebay. if you don't like the listings in the wrong category.....report them, thats what that little 'report' button is for.
WHY IS EBAY ALLOWING 14K GOLD PLATED,GOLD ROLLED,GOLD LAYERED, WITH 14K SOLID GOLD, ITS OPENING A DOOR FOR THE CROOKED EBAYERS WHO DECIEVE THE GOOD EBAYERS.
TAKE A HARD LOOK EBAY, IT SHOULD BE CHANGED INTO SEPARATE AREAS. THANKS
I am not selling it so it doesn't really matter too much..I keep it with my perfume collection LOL
nice size....I am not where my bottle is....it is gold gilt not sterling....but I think mine is a bit smaller....and I remember tassles on mine
I can be more specific if you want: I just have to go to the other end of the house and get the bottle.
it is about 4-5" high and 3 1/2 wide.. I can't find a mark but acid tested it and it read sterling.
is it marked? how high? wide sterling?
should I polish it do you think?
well I hate to tell you this, but the lady I got the scent bottle from had another one with dark blue glass, but the glass broke so she threw the whole thing out!!!
I would definitly say Art Nouveau style unless I could hold it in my hand....and btw.....do you have my snail mail addy?.....lol
well I am at the little house....no resourse books here but a small 7" x 4" Art Nouveau book....let me take a peek
Looks more like art nouveau. bwdik
Yes, it is sterling.. is it arts and crafts or art deco?
Love the perfume bottle, is that silver overlay on it?
Thank you for the gif!! That is so cute. Now I understand; that is a case of "don't do as I do, do as I say." I hate people like that!!!
well just about right....lol
hey I found a gif....just for you
CONGRATULATIONS on the 3100 PatRED>
Good Morning Pat
She is also a seller and her site (ebay store) demands payment in 3 days....I know it was not clear....but she will soon be gone along with my RED spit...ooops spot...lol
when she purchased my item her FB was at 163 now it is at 230...so someone is getting paid...so when she told me her hubby was witholding funds for her to buy untill mid month....I knew she was a story teller...
FG: I am glad they at least removed the comment: but what was the part of your response about "she demanded payment in 3 days?" I don't understand that.
still morning on ebays clock
well they removed....ready for this...."the comment"...but left the negative.....I tell you...if I ran the world....baliff....off with his head!!!
good morning everyone..... saddling up for the ride.....

cecilia.....how nice to have you back!!
we were supposed to have 2-4" of snow this morning.....cold but no snow on the ground. :)

I am seeing if I can do this. I am so tech illiterate.
Good morning, rain, clara and all joolies. When I got up this morning,I found out somebody has started winter and they didn't warn me. I got up and made coffee and dug out my big fleece housecoat, I ran my ac yesterday afternoon and last nite it started raining and this morning it is chilly enough for heaters.
Good Morning Jewels & Gems!
Good morning everyone.. Welcome back vintage memories.. My son is leaving for Florida on Thursday, not staying for a month. Wish he could.. Glitz - I like the mustang, but 5.5 is a little out of my budget.. On the cinnabar bracelet, I have 2 and each is a little different from the other.. one believe it or not is magnetic.. one looks alot like the one in your photo..
MG...thanks for the warm welcome! I was NOT on the computer for just over a month and was suffering from withdrawl (sp??). Off to bed as my body is still on Florida time and my ears are still plugged from the flight. I'll be back tomorrow...good night.
WELCOME BACK, CECELIA. Glad you had a good time and I imagine you did come home to a different climate. lol But we are glad to have you home. One of the girls asked the other day,"what happened to the joolie that writes in pink" . Talk later.
Hi everyone. I'm back from my month vacation to Tampa, Florida where I visited my daughter and grandchildren. I had a great time. I wish I could have brought some of that warm weather back with me to British Columbia. It's quite chilly here and raining cats and dogs. Great to be back. I'm raring to get going again. Time to start taking pictures and listing again. Hope all of you have been well. I have lots of reading to do to catch up on what's been happening on this Board.
Glitz, no problem, I think some of these folks need telling 3 or 4 times. Not that girl but especially some of the ones from across the waters with thier .(( diamonds. lol
Thanks Pat, I can be nice when I am in my lady-like mode.lol
Perhaps they could put it on the right in that big blank spot in 20 point type?
mag: you said that very nicely :-) Do you think perhaps Ebay should make the "no Business" a lot larger?
mg, sorry....for some reason did not see your post until i clicked my post in.
jennifer, please do not advertise in the chat rooms.... it is not allowed. you have nice jewelry....different from most i have seen..... but you need to work on your pictures.....too dark and they are fuzzy. also, look at ebay's fees and you will see that when your starting price is $10.00 you pay one listing fee....but if you lower it .01 to $9.99 you save a significant amount on your listing fee. you might want to use spell check also. good luck with your jewelry and please come back with any questions....just do not mention anything you have listed....or even that you are a seller. :)
Jennifer, read the red print above, we discuss jewelry here but you are not allowed to advertise or discuss anything that is already listed. If you have some vintage jewelry and need some info, one of us will be happy to answer, but no ads.

I just shipped an order to Russia and it got there fine. with-in a week I had feedback.
hello? ..... is any one here?
Well I did ship there also, but I wasn't risking over $200 this time.
i had my first package in a long time go to russia about 2 months ago, crossed my fingers but she got it.
she paid with paypal. I can only hope she gets the item.
Pat-be careful with Russia. High P.O. theft. Shipsurance will not even cover there. I just had over $200 order going there last week. I had her pay me Western Union. I was not taking any chances. I had even shipped to her before but it was only $30 so I had taken a chance, but was not going to with over $200.
also, check the carving to see if it looks old and hand done
sharon, that does not look like th eusual 'cinnabar' bangles.....research cinnabar because there was the old stuff with multi layers lacquers, then the neewer stuff that is very lightweight and painted.
Sharon: that looks like cinnabar to me. It is probably just thicker than normal?
http://tinyurl.com/ylbgpao I do have a question about this bangle bracelet. I thought it might be cinnabar, but it feels heavier..kind of like clay? does that make sense Sharon
Awesome..Leforme.. and today I;m shipping a navy silver wwd2 ring to israel..if it wasn't for the out of us buyers I wouldnt make any sales at all..:-) Sharon
Good morning all :-) I got my first sale to Russia! How cool is that??
fg, that is a great idea......telling the current bidders that you will give them a % off if they are the winner after you relist!! heck, as a buyer, if i got an email like that i would bid even more after it was relisted and i would remember that seller! it really doesn't take much to impress buyers......just a little sign that you appreciate them makes all the difference in the world.
just scrolled down and saw the ugly jewelry contest..
funny but, that ugly apple.. well. it was popular in the 70s. my daughter had one.. it was like one of the teacher things with apple for the teacher..
actually, it was made pretty well..LOL...
morning everyone.. just droppin' by.. as paw would say... you have a good one..

Evelyn....I do not see your changing it as not keeping your word...mistakes happen...retail stores do it...a well written email to the bidders along with a % off if they are the high bidder shows good faith
Good Morning ,joolies
Linda, thank you for the research, wonder if I can revise my listing after already getting bids, I will not take it down because to me it is being true to my word, even if I am wrong, besides, I already got a bargain, I just hope the next one to get it will be as fair.

Jo....well hope springs eternal....funny how her response to my reply stated no communication....yet I changed the price and put her first name in the subtitle before she bought it as then she was emailing me daily....so at best she will get an UPI strike
hi fg, i hope there will be a warning from ebay to the non-payer about ho wthe feedback system is to be properly used?
well i have talked with one jeweler this morning. i may not be able to get them running if they have sat for over a year. the oil dries up and the mechanisms will not run. but that is fixable. i am going out today to see as many jewelers that it takes to get an answer. i will let you all know. thanks for the help.
well negative FB will be removed in 72 hrs or less...and for future reference
you can file an NPI in FOUR days...not TEN
ebay is open on the weekends to call so I could have had this in the works sooner
good morning lou, pawdee, and fg! you too, snowbikerxcr......you might have treasure after all! i think you have gone as far as you can on your own and pawdee is correct....time to visit a jeweler for further research. got my fingers crossed for you!!
lou, you learn to save every rhinestone, faux pearl, etc you see.......you never know when you will need them for repair. and some companies had stones made only for them so i even buy earrings with stones missing sometimes just in case i even need those rare stones in something else.
Never mind. I went to the turkey place and found cleaning and repair. Now have another 14 pages to peruse. Thanks anyway. LOU
Ok, I guess today is the day I become an official "joolie" according to glitz! Quick question before I go write in my blog. (More about that later.) If a stone falls out and I need to glue it back what kind of glue do I use? Does the glue become different for different compositions, ie, plastic, glass, metal? When I got the necklaces bagged up I was left with a layer of beads, pearls, and grit and such. Being a devouted pack rat, I am sorting them by color, shape, composition, etc. My treasures have now covered the table, 3 chairs and I am working on the island now. We may have to give up eating because the kitchen counter is next and then I will have no where to cook! LOU
Good Morning Everyone....gifless...oh well
Evelyn..on your spinning wheel pin...you can...cancel the bids...and re-list...nothing wrong with that as it is an honest mistake in listing...and doing it early on vs. the 2nd to the last day is better
snowbikerxcr, I guess I'd take it to a jeweler
Good morning joolies, it was pretty and sunny all weekend here in the foothills, had a fair weekend at the flea considering the economy
ok, i checked out your website and many others about how to tell. so here's what i got 1.it's a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date the band is white and yellow gold looking? the face is gold. there are 8 diamonds and 2 baquets (sp?)on the back is a sticker with the crown the number 18038 and rolex. it looks like it was worn with the sticker. so the sticker is very beat up. 2. i did the water trick for the crystal - check 3. there is no etching that i can see of a crown, but that can mean its just older than when they started that in 02' or 05' - check 4.it has the magnification and that seems to match the pics i've seen. 5.no seal because it is not a kind that would have on - check 6. the sticker like i said is worn and they did not start the hologram until 2002 but no one says what the sticker was like before that except that the number would be black and mine is so - check 7.i do not know how to get the back off or take the band off to check for serial numbers - strike 8. i have followed the instructions online to get it runnung. it has been sitting for an unknown amout of time. it is not running and i have been unsuccessful so far. so i can not tell how the second hand works. - strike i hope this helps. if it is fake it is a good one. if any one else has any info i would appreciate it. im sorry i can't post a pic

bnooger, i'm sorry, but i have no idea. you might want to check on the computer and Images/HTML chat boards and see if they have suggestions.
Hi pawdee, hope weather is better over your way. Thought maybe you were building an ark.
Hi everyone, I haven't been on ebay board for a while and, wow changes a lot. Anyway, question: I start an online jewelry store(outside ebay). any suggestion on which site builder is the best? I tried godday and didn't like it at all. Colors changed when I upload pictures. Citymax I do like but hope there is something else better. Please advise.
you are welcome chris. if you have any further questions, just ask.
lou, glad you are here :). we only refuse to answer questions about currently listed items.....but if you have questions about maker, stones, etc. we love to look at jewelry and try to answer what we can. just remember to include a link to the front and the back and any marks. :) i am near lawrence ks......home of the jayhawks. :)) oh, and after you ahve posted three time i think yo uare no longer a 'visitor' but become a joolie!
glitz... Thanks so much for the info on the Carats & Karats :) and for the link. Sure appreciate your help.
Chris
Glitz: Where are you at in Kansas? I came from Hutchinson and still have family there. Have kids in Lakin and a grand daughter in Holcomb.
I did not know I could actually ask questions. That is frowned upon over at AC. I am not quite ready to start taking pictures and I am sure that this stuff is mostly junk and would surprise me if any is worth much at all. The earrings that I thought could be valuable are silver filigree and the filigree on the one is corroded and eaten away. The other is a little better.
In the meantime I will keep sorting and I went to the one down there where I had to click on the turkey. Printed some of the stuff out and will read it later for something to make me sleepy.
I think I shall enjoy visiting here and learning about your jewelry.
:) Lou

chris, perhaps if you were more specific in what you are looking for i could be of more help. but illusionjewels.com is the same site most of us use so i don't know how else to help you without more info.

yuyu, where i am it is only 8pm now......and i stay up until early morning anyway. :) it is early morning in china now?
chris, the site i gave you is one we all use and has the most commonly found names. if you have questions about specific companies you may ask them on here....but for us to list the designers and companies would take a day or two. there are sooooooooooooo many.

and, since a friend of mine found an 18K gold piaget watch in a bag of basically costume watches i am not quite as pessimistic as i was about high ticket watches being found in everyday life, LOL!
snowbiker, there are only a couple of regulars on the board who know watches....unfortunately i am not one of them. :( keep checking back as one of them might post more info for you. :)
i realize there are many knockoffs. probably more of them than the real ones. i have been on their website and there is not much to it. and some of the links i tried are not responding right now. just thought i might find someone here with some info. thanks
snowbiker, take them to a rolex dealer or go to their website and email them asking how to get them verified. unfortunately, most are knock-offs.

Okay, I cant find my digital camera so now I am trying to find out if it costs to send pictures from my cell phone to my email. I know its off topic, but does anyone know if it usually costs? i wouldn't be surprised if its like $1- a pic or something like that....
