I remember when they made such combo sets, but I couldn't give you a time frame. I had one, and as they're both described as HO scale, they were "compatible" in size. I admit to abusing the cars by having "accidents" at the crossing. :D

Hi, I have purchased a combination train and slot car set by Marx Toys. It is HO scale. I've never seen one before and I have looked through all the books I have and can't find it. Does anybody out there know when it was made or any information at all. The cross section is train track crossing a slot car track. Thanks in advance for the help. jacko0_9

Is it okay for someone to list an item and say that they have two of them. But down in the discriptions it says that it is a pre order? When I asked them how long it might take before they get it they said late feburary. but the discrption says early feb?
I must say that I did not see the pre-order stuff until after I had bought it, but it just seems snicky?

Hi, I don't know where to ask my question, so I'm going to try here. I have a Disney figurine that I can't identify. It's similar to the ceramic ones of Pluto and Snow White, etc. It's a weird-looking animal that looks like a hyena to me. It was made in Japan in 1988. It measures about 4-1/4" tall and about the same from nose to tail. I posted on the Disneyana discussion board and haven't heard anything yet.

Here are links to some photos:

Hi all Fyrqueen-You're welcome. That one drove me up the wall at first. I could remember the packaging and even that McDonalds had a happy meal toy but the name took time. :)

Ger246_2008-Here's another Lego site that I found. The scans for the 8140 set are there.

Sherrie-I got a few people at work into that site to. The funny thing I've seen with people looking at sites like that is they really miss the concept of what the dollar was worth back then and how much you were being paid for wages. Things really aren't as cheap when you value in the inflation rate of what you'd pay for it now.

Can anyone help me.

My daughter was given a tan coloured Mothercare Teddy Bear before she was born. She took it everywhere and it slept with her every night. She is now 7 and around October it went missing. She has been distraught and sobbed regularly at school. We have searched for one for months to replace it and recently one came up on ebay (250564996205). I agreed to buy it and the seller posted a buy it now - within 7 minutes someone else had beaten me to it. Again I am mortified.

Does anyone know how I can find a similar bear - I have loads of photos of him if that helps (not sure how to load them)....
Does anyone know how I go about sourcing such a bear>

Thanks again for any help you can give.

Hello! I don't think I have ever been here before but I bet someone can help me.

Does anyone know the name of the Mattel little planes that attached to orange bellows? You push down on the bellows and the plane shoots away! The planes had black rubber up front so they wouldn't injure crockery, cats, etc. They were made in 1991.

Thanks!

Hi,everyone! I have a race car that needs a couple parts and manual unfortunatly I only have a description of it. Produced around 2002-03. It's black with a red/white #13 on the fenders. Measures about 8 to 12". It is a smash up car, when pulled back the rear wheels wind up then you let it go and it takes off. When it hits something the fenders fly off and I believe the front bumper as well. It kind of looks like a technic race car.

Hi all Jef-I'll vote for you as long as you're not some whiny republican. ;)
E_spin-I wouldn't haven't worded it new unless I described it in the auction as to how you were going to get it.
Jo-I seen a few complaints here and there that are similar but sellers should be aware,at least in this day and age, that the packaging is VERY important to most collectors who aren't going to open the item they bought.

Has anyone else learned the hard way that just because a toy on ebay is described as "new" it does not mean it is in it's original packaging with instructions? I bought a Lego toy for my nephew as a Christmas present and found out after contacting the seller, that the seller buys large sets and then breaks them down and sells sections off and calls them "new." I was not aware that the Lego dragon I ordered was part of a larger set. It came in little baggies with no instructions and no box. It sure didn't look like a $25 toy. Upon email contact with the seller, he said that he would send me that portion of the instructions but never did. I was pressed for time so I did not return the toy and fortunately my nephew seemed to like it. He is more familiar with ebay and I am told that if it doesn't say "NIB" meaning New In Box, then it is possible this is the what you may be buying. Just an FYI for the next guy!

pffreese,I rarely see ink-cancelled stamps anymore. If you paid specifically for Priority and the seller sent the package a cheaper way, then he owes you for the difference and should expect poor feedback. BUT, talk with the seller first to try to iron out the issues. Don't leave feedback before you give the seller a chance to make things right for you.
Posted by   ( ) on Dec-26-09 at 20:40:30 PST   Listings
pffreese, if your complaint were simply "the description was vague", then the fault lies with you. But since the item, including package, is not in the same condition as in the photos from which you purchased it, then yes you can take action. File a claim thru ebay and Paypal (you did pay via Paypal, right?)
BUT, use this as a learning experience. If a description is vague, ask questions. Even if the description seems crystal clear, ask questions. Request additional photos. Be sure of what you are buying before you bid.

I just recieved an item I purchased, a collectible action figure in the package. I am a little angry. The item description was extremely vague; the only statement about the condition was in the Item Specifics it said Condition: New. There was only 1 photo showing the item, not even getting the entire package in the shot. What I could see looked mint condition good to display. What I got the guy folded over the top plastic part and taped it, to fit it inside a large envelope with no padding. So the item is not in the condition I thought it would be, the package is now not display quality. Since his descrip was vague can I take action or not? The package in the photo did not have the top plastic flap folded over. The seller altered the package to fit it in an envelope. Another thing I just noticed, I paid for Priority Mail Flat Rate Large Envelope but he put 5 stamps on it and there are no Priority Mail stickers on it. Even more odd the 5 stamps are not cancelled. Any input is appreciated.

As a Grandmother spending hundreds on Ebay on the Zhu Zhu Pets that I thought would be a hit Christmas morning ended up ruining my Christmas giving! HTF?? They were in stores everywhere for $8.00 the last week before.Less presents from Nana because she spent so much on Ebay for these dangerous toys! The wheels cut my son-in-laws finger, so how can a child be safe playing with these hamsters? How about that warning sticker on the bottom after you opened it: stating could catch hair? Wouldn't go up around the wheel. My other daughter wouldn't even open theirs, because of all the hazards the media put out?Cute>YES!Dangerous> You Betcha! Should ship them All Back To China! And to think Ebay pulled my listing on a coffee pot because the handle could get HOT! Just telling it like it is!

Hi all Dan-the ones I really love are the people who come in to ask questions AFTER they've put the item in an auction...it's like fishing for views.

Lightness13-I got a feedback a few years ago that was similar. Good feedback but a week later the lady went on to whine about how the item was supposedly dirty. It really ticked me off cuz it took 3 hours to clean. Another issue with buyers is that if you're buying second hand toys DON'T expect museum quality items unless they've never been played with.

Dar2mis-2009-by recover do you mean they should be at the nine dollars that they're actually worth? or the inflated market price created by a glut of ebay sellers to turn a quick profit?

Hello, anyone and everyone. Wanted to ask ask all you eBayers out there if you won an auction and was not happy with the item received, would you wait 3 to 4 weeks to complain about it? Does this seem a little out of the norm? I personally respond right away, but that's just how I handle things. Please lend me your opinions on this matter (if you can). Thank you all very much and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I am looking for a little help regarding an Eldon toy I can't ID. It is a red and white catamoran, 10" long and 4 1/4" wide with red plastic pontoons and a white plastic top and a white plastic sail. It reads "ELDON Los Angeles" and "C-510".

I can't find it on the internet or my toy books. I suspect it is a fairly rare toy. Does anyone think there would be a market for it & what a fair asking price would be? It does have cracks in it's white base. Any help much appreciated. -Dave

Stay away from "bid hi and early to win" he runs up the bids using another members info. If you bid hi and early he runs the bid. If you don't bid so hi and he gets stuck with it he relists right away. It's so obvious it's crazy. Thank God ebay is on top of this kind of thing (not). So please stay away from this kat.

I have had a few over the past few years but sold them. I think my aunt had the paper ones, so when I saw that set I had to have it. To make myself feel better after the crash, you know.
I found another 3 boxes of old glass ornaments in storage, and have refileld the tree. this time it's in an old German stand made of wood, and is tied to the wall in 2 places. It's not going anywhere. Now i need to figure out how to light the non-lighting angel on top.tree

I decorated my white tree last night, carefully placing each vintage glass ornament securely on the branches and closing the wire hangers. I anchored the tree to a hook in the window frame for extra safety. I have hundreds of old glass ornaments and used my favorites, adnmiring each one as I placed it.
I woke at midnight to a crash. The knot in the cord I used to tie the tree loosened, and one of the stand legs broke off. Most of my beautiful ornaments were smashed. I've been collecting them for most of my life.
Just thought I'd share my grief.

e-bay started off as a venue for bargain hunters. Regular people sold their stuff, used and new at a fraction of the standard price of the item. Now e-bay as become the quintessential platform for unabashed capitalism. JCPenney was selling a gaming system for 8 bucks. They're out of them because folks bought them in huge bulks, and reselling them on e-bay for forty bucks. Shameful !
